Hi,
My Farrell/McIvor family moved from SA to Victoria in the mid 1850's with their four children. Four more were born in Victoria but unfortunately only the youngest, William,b 1864, survived the first year!
I have recently found the death in Vic for the father, Peter in 1872. Unfortunately I cannot find his wife, Rosanna's death. Perhaps she returned to SA to her McIvor family.
Is there anyone who could lookup in the SA BDM's for her death please? Also for the parents of Peter.... reported to be Peter(soldier) and Lucinda? Peter's family is said to be part of the pioneer stock of SA???
Any other info on the Farrell/McIvor family in SA would also be welcome.
Many thanks,
Kjb51

Thanks to you both for the prompt response! I had the marriage as 30 July 1847, although I have no record of an Agnes being born to them. On his death certificate the 8 chn I have are the only ones listed.
I wondered if perhaps Roseanna may have remarried after Peter died?
I did see the reference to the Peter Farrell in the whaling list but it is very hard to know if it is connected.
Can you find anything about his parents? On the death cert. it states that he had been in Vic for 19 years and SA for 22years.... putting his arrival in about 1831, when he was about 14 years old. What are the SA immigration records like?
Thanks again kjb51

I rechecked my records in case I made a typo with the marriage date but they are as I transcribed, so we have 3 differing dates. Information from the Bisa is not always 100% and it would be quite easy to mistranscribe the other discrepancies.
The website JJ sent to you also has this marriage recorded there.
The 1841 Census has a Rev. James Farrell (single) and a William Farrell recorded but not much other identifying information.
Do you know Roseanna's parents names? She isn't mentioned in the BISA but there are a few McIvor families, nothing to identify Roseanna.

Thanks,
Unfortunately I do not know Roseanna's parent's names. Thanks for your help anyway!

I found these 2 births which made me think have you looked for the death of an Ann/Anna/Annie Farrell?
Given Names -Peter FARRELL
Born - 9.2.1850
Sex - Male
Father - Peter FARRELL
Mother - Ann MCEVER
Birth Place/Residence - (not recorded)
District Code -The Murray/Burra
Book - 6
Page - 83
Given Names - Mary Ann FARRELL
Born - 3.6. 1851
Sex - Female
Father -Peter FARRELL
Mother - Rosina MCIVOR
Birth Place/Residence -(not recorded)
District Code - Ade
Book 3
Page 221
The Bisa reported a child Agnes born 1850? That would be a tight fit between these 2 children. They are the only 2 births I could find.

Thanks Sasha for those lookups. I have been away from my computer for a few days, hence my late acknowledgment!
I did not have an exact date for the first Peter's birth and Mary Ann is my Great Grandmother. I believe that the first Peter died early as there is another Peter born about 1853, listed on the youngest child's birth certificate in Victoria. Also Lucy, born about 1855, going on the age on that birth certificate, ... not sure if she was born in Adelaide or Vic?? Sadly, the next 3 chn born in Vic all died before they turned three.
I will check Vic death records for "Anna" etc today.
Thanks again,

From the Family History site that JJ posted previously, you can find under South Australian gold-diggers (those that sent their finds back to SA)
FARRELL Peter consigned 56 oz of gold which arrived by escort 2 on 5th May 1852.

Thanks Sasha,
I will check that reference out. I have just found Rosanna Farrell's death in Victoria in 1890. She had remarried soon after Peter Farrell's death to a John Ford. Her parents are given as Michael McIvor and Bridget Unkown.
On the list of children the third child is given as Robert Peter, not Peter as I had.
Thanks again for your help,
