Dear All
I hope someone can help - Hannah Boyes born c 1821 states in 1841 Census for Cumberland that she was originally from Ireland. Her mothers names was Jane. Her husband in 1841 was James Leeson of Cumberland. I have no earlier records of the Leesons so do not know where they originally come from and I would love to know where Hannah Boyes came from within Ireland
Thanks in advance

Hello angelcake,
Your ancestors being in Cumberland points towards them
originally living somewhere in the north of Ireland.

The surname in Ireland could also be Boyce.

The surname in Ireland could also be Boyce.
As well as Boze, Bois, Boise, Boice, Boas, Bost, Bust, Boast, Boost and many more 8).
Have a look at Boyes and Boyce on Ros Davies' Co. Down, Ireland Genealogy Research Site
If the name happened to be Boyce then the Boyce and Leeson names appeared in the same Parish in the following counties ... Antrim, Dublin, Dublin city and Wicklow.
Boyes and Leeson were not found in the same Parish.

Thanks for the advice - do you have a link address for the Ros Davies' Co. Down, Ireland Genealogy Research Site? It sounds promising with the Leeson cnnection - I have been unable to find anything earlier than references on the 1841 census to give me clues from where they originally came from
Thanks again
