I am trying to find information on Elizabeth Maud Hankinson. Birth registered Oct/dec 1901 Bucklow Cheshire. She married Samuel B Pearson Sept 1925 in Bucklow Cheshire. They lived on Hale Road, Hale, Cheshire.
I am trying to find out when and where she died. The only info I have found is Elizabeth Maud Hankinson died 1979 Brighton, Maine, Somerset, USA, born Bucklow, Cheshire 1901. Could this be the same person? I do hope someone can help me.
Thanks very much Lynda

Hi Lynda & welcome to RootsChat.
Bucklow is the registration district that covered Hale at the times of Elizabeth's birth & marriage - GENUKI lists the areas covered on this link
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/bucklow.html
Cheshire BMD often helps with marriages by identifying the church, but sadly the Pearson/Hankinson is not yet listed. Looking at the coverage pages I see that St Peter's Hale (the C of E parish church) has not been transcribed for this date, so that could be where they married.

Her marriage certificate would probably identify her father - her birth certificate both parents. Let us know if you need to know how to get these. If you have her parents details you may be able to find them on the 1901 Census & earlier, if you haven't already done so.
I did look on FreeBMD to see if it listed any children surname Pearson, mother's maiden name Hankinson, but didn't find any - perhaps there were none or they weren't registered in the periods and areas so far transcribed.
Regarding her death - have you any reason to suspect she reverted to her maiden name (divorce?) or went to the USA? There are limited free online UKrecords for deaths after around 1915 - FreeBMD has limited coverage for England & Wales and there are various county sites that have some coverage later - they can be sourced via UKBMD

The full England & Wales records are online on paid sites such as Ancestry, but upto 1984(?) you have to search quarter by quarter. Do you have any ideas/stories that may narrow a time period?
I see you're in Spain, otherwise I'd suggest a visit to Trafford Local Studies Library for electoral rolls, directories etc that might give a time when they moved from Hale Road.
There are sites with passenger lists - I have no personal experience of these, perhaps someone else can recommend where to look for any evidence of her going to the USA on these.

Hi Lynda
I think the US entry you have found is too much of a coincidence for it not to be her. A copy of her US death cert may give some clues but unless she and Pearson divorced, I can't understand why her death would be registered as Hankinson.
I have looked at the full GRO index and she was the only Elizabeth Maud Hankinson registered in 1901

Hi Lynda,
You can see basic details of passengers on ships for free on www.ancestorsonboard.com (covers 1890-1960).

Thanks very much for your replies. I have had terrible trouble trying to find out anything other than a name, my family does not want to talk about it. I found the date of the register of the birth and the marriage on the internet. I will certainly try out your suggestions, and if all else fails on my next journey back to the UK I shall go to Trafford. Thanks very much again Lynda

Here is another thought - post a message on the US board for a 1930 US census lookup
I know it was only 5 years after her marriage but they just may have emigrated

Hi thanks for your ideas. I have found out that Samuel stayed in Hale Cheshire until his death which I have been unsuccessful in finding the date etc... of. Also a birth registered Oct/Nov 1930 of Benny. So I assume this would count out the 1930 American census, and that is the latest one we can access I think. I shall keep trying down different avenues, thanks again for your help and suggestions

Hi there thanks very much for all your help. Sadly I am sure these are not my people. I have found out that there is definitely no such place as Bucklow, Cheshire, New Hampshire on an American forum for Cheshire NH. So I am assuming it is not a coincidence and it is in fact the same person. I am going to order the birth certificates for Elizabeth Maud Hankinson and Samuel Pearson and see what I can find out then.
Does anyone know if Warrington came under Bucklow Cheshire, as I notice on Genes Reunited that there is another Elizabeth Maud Hankinson born in Warrington 1901. I am thinking these are two different people, all will become clear when I receive the certificates I hope.
Thanks again Lynda :)
