-
Do you know where they were married? This may give a clue as to where Elizabeth was born.

Yes thank you both that's them. have that they married on 1 Sep 1825 at St James Church Trowbridge but nothing else for them apart from the 1851 census and that Samuel dies in 1860
-
Here's their marriage in Trowbridge St James.
1 Sep 1825 Samuel Loxley, bachelor, otp (x) married Elizabeth Pope, spinster, otp (x), banns. Witnesses Stephen Halliday ans William Nightingale.
Could not find baptisms for them but I'll have a look in Hilperton as a result of the 1851 census.

Thanks Dave that would be great, very difficult when you don't live anywhere near the area you're researching!

Hilperton clue struck gold! Some Hilperton baptisms all children of Gabriel and Mary Pope, his occupation was plasterer.............
6 Sep 1801 Elizabeth, 29 May 1803 Elizabeth, 15 Jun 1806 John
26 Jun 1808 Maria, 24 May 1813 William, 19 Jun 1814 Ann
15 Oct 1814 Mary, 26 Jul 1818 Charles
Gabriel and Mary were not too lucky with their children as the following Hilperton Pope burials may indicate.............
24 Jan 1802 Elizabeth, 11 Jul 1813 Maria age 5, 13 Jul 1813 William age 5m,
26 Jul 1818 Mary age 3, 14 Apr 1824 Charles age 6, 8 May 1835 Ann age 25
