I will be in the Warwick area this coming week and would like to call in at the Leamington Cemetery to say hello (or even goodbye) to my Willoughby ancestors - planted between 1830 and 1890.
I can find find the cemetery on the map but it's a big area so how do I find out exactly where they are?
Thanks for any advice/directions. Derek

Hi,
I just read, on the Warwick District Council website, that all the records for their cemeteries, including the one at Leamington are held at:
Mid Warwickshire Crematorium
Oakley Wood
Bishops Tachbrook
Leamington Spa
CV33 9QP
Tel: 01926 651418
They should be able to look up the entry for you, if you can give them the name and date of death, and tell you the grave number, and hopefully pin-point it on a plan. It's a very large cemetery!
As time is running out I should contact them ASAP, as they may need time to look up the details.
Hope this helps - good luck.

Thanks Paulene - gave them a call with month/year/name and they told me directly the Section and Grave No.
I will still have to call at the Crem though to get a plan since the cemetery is quite large and there are no sign posts.
Unless that is, anyone out there knows where Section 46 and Grave 100 happen to be.

Hello, Who are you looking for in Leamington cemetery? I have Willoughby ancestors from Leamington who later moved to Birkenhead, Cheshire. Are these in your line too? I have checked microfiche of Leamington cemeteries but found nothing of any use.
Kind regards
Roger Willoughby

Hi cousin !
I was looking for William - obtained the plot number and map from the crem at Bishops Tachbrook, then paced out the cemetary. No headstone - just an overgrown yew tree right on top where he should be !
He was the brother of your ancestor John and born the year after him at Radford Semele to Thomas and Ann (Eyres?). I believe John married Charlotte Cockbill in 1826, had two children in Warwick area and moved to Birkenhead sometime between 1841 and 1850. Lots of info available .

Derek, You are quite right about William being the brother of my ancestor John except that I have their christenings down as John at Long Itchington 23 October 1803 and William at Radford Semele 6 April 1806 . I have their father, Thomas as marrying twice , to Ann Eyre and later to Anne Peddock with whom he had two more sons, Thomas and Edward. I am trying to find the birth/christening of this Thomas who had the four sons. Any info?
You are correct again about John moving to Birkenhead between 1841 and 1850, with his wife and two children, John and Mary Ann.
Any further info would be very welcome.
Kind regards, Toger

Hi Roger or Derek,
I have only recently started researching my grandmothers family tree. Her name was Jane Willoughby born 1883, daughter of Thomas Willoughby born 1858 who was the son of John Willoughby born 1828 who came to Birkenhead Wirral. Johns farther was the John Willoughby who married Charlott Cockbill,he would be my great, great great grandfather.
If I can help with any info at this end please let me know.

Hi Rob - good to hear from another cousin,
The Birkenhead branch is Roger's side of the tree - I have concentrated of the Leamington/Warwick/Loughboro side but the Ancestry tree "Willoughbys of Leamington" records a lot of the findings.
You offered info - so two specific questions please
Where was Jane Willoughby (b1883) in 1901: and after the death of Jane Leary in 1897, did Thomas marry a Margaret ??

Hi Derek,
Thanks for replying so promptly.
Jane Willoughby (Leary) died in 1897 I think in child birth. Her last known address on the 1891 census was 3 Millers or (Millars) Place Birkenhead. I believe Thomas did remarry to Margaret O'Neil in 1882 but this conflicts with the 1891 census maybe the date is wrong.
In 1901 the census shows Thomas, Margaret and three of the childrenon the 1891 census ( Elizabeth, Thomas & William) James is the youngest aged 7. Their address was 2 Arthur Street Birkenhead. Thomas is listed as a Bricklayer on both census and ages of children also tie up so I am assuming its the same family.
Iwill have to do some more digging on this.
I have found alot of info on the Cheshire BMD index which is free to search.
Kind Regards
Rob
