Many thanks for your speedy reply.
We have number of "Weatherburns" on our tree, and your PM has helped with death dates for two of them, which I doubt we would have found without your help,

Might I trouble you to have a look at the Emmersons in Frosterley? They seem to be quite cavalier about the use of multiple christian names and a monumental inscription might help sort them out.
Many thanks
Alan

Hello Alan. Here is one inscription for Emerson:-
In loving memory of Margaret Emerson, the beloved wife of Richard Emerson of Frosterley, who died March/9/1895 aged ?8? years.

What have you on the Makepeace's there in Frosterley--the place with the nifty marble.
Janis
-
Hello Janis. The stone is in a very poor condition and I don't think it will be earlier enough for you.
Here is what can be read:-
In loving memory of William, beloved husband of Elizabeth Makepeace, died 23/November/1947 aged 86 years.
The other name on the stone is Joseph Wilfred but no dates.
Adam
-
Thanks anyway--My Makepeace's if they did not emigrate to the US lived in Pelton in the 1900's. I am always hopefull to find my Ruth and Peter Makepeace's final resting spot--or just when they died would be a start.
