Hello
I am looking for any information regarding the Chadwell family who lived in the Iver area in the 1830's - 1860's approx. Henry Chadwell born in Iver, approx. 1837, was my great-great Grandfather. I have no other info. except that he ended up with his wife and children in Hove, Sussex where he was a building contractor. Thank You

Any idea whether Mary Ann's maiden name was Yates?
The only Henry Chadwell marriage I can see between 1851 and 1861 (when he's married) is:
Sep 1857 Cookham 2c 622
Henry Chadwell to possible Mary Ann Yates
The 1851 census shows a Mary Ann Yates born ca. 1839 Iver but I'm not sure why they would have married in Cookham instead of Eton.
Henry's father's christening:
JAMES CHADWELL
Christening 31 MAY 1801 Iver, Buckinghamshire
Father SPENCER CHADWELL Mother REBECCA
other children to same parents, same place:
MARY CHADWELL 05 OCT 1783
SPENCER CHADWELL 1786
ROBERT CHADWELL 30 AUG 1788
SARAH CHADWELL 23 JAN 1791
THOMAS CHADWELL 12 FEB 1792
ANN KNIGHT CHADWELL 07 JUN 1795
CHARLOTTE CHADWELL 23 OCT 1796
ELIZABETH CHADWELL 04 AUG 1799
THOMAS CHADWELL 25 DEC 1803

Hello Tati
Thank You for all this new information about the Chadwells. This will take me a day or two to digest! I had thought that Henry remarried to Ellen after Marys' death because of Census info. Henry's son Herbert was my Great-Grandfather. Henry and Ellen lived near Cowden, Kent at Scarletts Mill Farm. My late grandmother, Dorothy Chadwell, remembered the farm as a little girl. I am most grateful to you for taking the time to look this up. Cheers!!!

i remember the chadwell family from iver high street back in the 1960's and 70's, they were the funeral service for the area at the time.
on the 1801 census for iver is a martha chadwell, no other info.
on the 1821 census is a spencer chadwell,no other info, but may help with research.
there are no chadwells on the war memorial in iver.

Hi, only just found this topic, I am one of the Chadwells that used to live at Iver, not sure if you managed to get all the info you wanted tofrek as it was 2008 that you posted.
I have a photo of Henry on his farm at Cowden if you haven't already got it...

Hello Richchad. I would love to have any information that you have regarding the Chadwells. The photo would be fantastic. I have traced the family back to Great Farringdon and also to Rissingdon in Gloucestershire. Do you have any info. about the Umpton (or Upton) connection way back. Would really like to share anything about my Grandmothers clan. Thank you for responding.

Hi Tofrek, I expect I have most of the same information as you, as I too have traced the family back to Lawrence Chadwell born in Faringdon who is my great x6 grandfather.
I also have a few Chadwells in the Rissington area but as yet no direct link to the Faringdon Chadwells, although they must be related being so close geographically.
My tree is on Genes Reunited, Ancestry.com and Gencircles if you have access to any of these.
I have attached a photo of Henry Chadwell (b 1836) on his farm at Cowden.
