Title: Walter Pilley
Post by: jp760 on Thursday 29 May 08 20:29 BST (UK)
Hi

According to the Herefordshire monumental inscriptions there is mention to Walter Pilley in the St Francis Xavier catholic chapel (maybe a plaque or something), can anyone tell me if they have seen anything referring to him there and what it says.

Regards

John

Hi John
I don't know if you've seen the following

http://www.cornucopia.org.uk/html/search/verb/GetRecord/7598

http://www.hereford.gov.uk/html/list_of_mayorshccweb.htm

or whether you have googled - Walter Pilley
Some churches have lists of Mayors

Quite a lot about him if he's yours.

Hello Wendy,

Thanks for taking the time to look for me, yes he is the Walter Pilley who was mayor of Hereford 1909-1910 and a local historian, I have visited his grave in Belmont Abbey, Herefordshire,  the Hereford monumental inscriptions state that there is also an inscription to him in St Francis Xavier RC
in Broad St Hereford and I was wondering if anyone had seen it.

Thankyou again,

John
