Hi Pughy
It looks as if they might well be in one of the North Wales Counties - possibly Caernarvonshire/Anglesey, as Ayers(?) was born in Menai Bridge circa 1892. They also seemed to have spent a fair amount of time in Rhyl (Flintshire)
I'm particularly interested in Sarah, as she was born in the same place as many of my ancestors* :)
I'll check some of my 'off line' records if they can't be found on-line.

* or says that she was so she must have known it at somestage.

I've tried various permutations leaving out surname, wide age range, etc. but can't hit on a possible for Sarah, Joseph or Dora on the 1891.
Do you have any other info at all that might help in the search?

HI Gadget
Thank's for all the info. The only other information I have is that DORA Boswell married a JOSEPH LOCK in Anglesey in 1916 they apparently had three children before they married KAOMIA LOCK 1911 Ormskirk Lancs, IDRIS LOCK 1912 Birkenhead Cheshire, SARAH C LOCK Holyhead, Anglesey,
It is from IDRIS LOCK 1912 that my interest is. I am doing the research for my friend IDRIS was his Grandfather.
I noticed reading the article on the BOSWELL's that it mentions that in 1901 they were parked next to a LOCK's van. I would imagine that they have to be the same LOCK family that JOSEPH LOCK is from.
My friends sister did a bit of research some time ago I am waiting on him finding out if she obtained the marriage certificate for JOSEPH LOCK & DORA BOSWELL if she did what were the Fathers names.
Which would obviously help searching the Censuses.
Thank's Once Again for your Help.

Charles Lock age 8 Son
Joseph Lock age 12 Son
Lily Lock age 5 Dau
R Lock age 32 Head Horse Dealer

HI Gadget
Thank's for all the help.I looked through some of the requests on the Traveler's Site there is quite a lot of references to the BOSWELLS & LOCKS.
I am going to wait to get the marriage certificate for JOSEPH LOCK & DORA BOSWELL that way I will hopefully have more idea from which families they descend, before I put any requests on the the Traveler's site.
Thank's once again for all your Help

I've learnt quite a bit about Travellers in Wales while trying to find them, so it's been a good exercise for me!

Hello Pughy,
I have been watching your postings on Lock/e's with interest, my Lock/es are from the Isle of Wight, amongst the records for Lock/e born on the Island is an Idris Salter Locke (no connection) born 1890 (illegitimate I believe as the mothers maiden name is not given so she was probably a Lock/e) he married in 1914 on the island and I believe he was killed in the 1st World War.
There was a James I Lock born 1865 on the island, I have often wondered what the "I" stood for as there were not many male names beginning with "I", if you can find a connection between these and yours I will try to help.
Idris Lock is an unusual name and the only ones I can see records for were yours and this one on the island.
Bye for now regards IOW Maiden.

Morning all,
I stumbled over another Boswell - Lock "union" while wandering through the 1891 Shropshire census. I don't know iif it's of any use, but here goes!
Census at Cotton in the Wem Parish - "Encamped on Common" - RG12/2123. Can't make out Folio or Page nos.
George Boswell, Head, M, 36, Travelling Hawker, b Crewe Cheshire
Susannah Boswell, Wife, M, 26, b Newport Shropshire
Samson Boswell, Son, S, 3, b Knutsford Cheshire
John Sullivan Boswell, Son, S, 4(?) months, b Congleton Cheshire
Laura Boswell, Sister's Child, S, 9, b Wilmslow Cheshire
Rabbi Lock, Brother-in-law, S, 15, b * Staffordshire
Deborah Lock, Mother-in-law, Widow, 60, b ---- Crewe Cheshire
Henry Lock, Brother-in-law, S, 10, b * Staffordshire
Ruth Lock, Sister-in-law, S, 6, b * Staffordshire
Eva Lock, Sister-in-law, S, 24 (?), Not known
Louisa Lock, Sister-in-law, S, 23 (?), Not known, (Deaf & Dumb ----)
Lydia Lock, Sister-in-law, S, 18 (?), * Staffordshire
* Staffordshire - looks like it could be "Talk o' Hill" Stafffordshire???
Edit: ---- indicates complete word illegible.
I hope that adds to the general picture of the Boswell - Lock families if nothing else.
Regards.

Hi Pughy and Gadget,
I didn't actually type anything in to find the Boswell family - I was browsing through the Shropshire 1891 looking for Cotton (the place) and when I saw "Encamped on Common" my interest was roused!
I use a subscription site, but not A______y.
As with Gadget, give me a PM if you feel that I can be of further use.
Regards.

Im looking for any information on a Ronald Boswell, - He assumed the identity of Ronald Lock for few reasons. My grandfather has been told by a few Locks/boswells that say there was a murder in the family, but no one is sure of what and when.
My grandfather was born in Anglesey Frazier Boswell, but was raised as Frazier Lock. b 1934
His father was born under the Menai Bridge in a caravan im guessing 1880-1900?? Ill try to find out.

There is a web page that might help you its Romani Cymru the Locke family still live on Anglesey Ive done some research for one of the family and found that the family belong to the Wood family and came from the Bridge North area and the border counties
