;D Hi, I was wondering wheather anybody could help me trace my grand-father who was a traveller, On his head stone his name is Jack Stuart which all the grand-kids knew him by, but his real name was Gordon J Stuart, he was born in 1922, i presume in the Greenwich or Lewisham districts of SE London.
He passed away age 73 on the 6th march 1995, i do not know his parents names yet that is why i need to trace his birth cert, i have his marraige cert, which i ordered & am waiting to come through by post so at least i will find out his fathers name,, but it is very important for me to get his birth cert in order for me to carry on my search & also so i can find out who my G-Grand - mother was.
I know that years ago my grand-mother used to visit my grandad at thamesmead gypsy site when they were first courting, but thats all i know about that,
My nan who he married was Mary Ann Elizabeth stuart, (nee taylor) & was born on April 7th 1929 & died on 15th feb 2003 aged 74.
I hope someone can help me as i am at my wits end,
thanks for taking the time to read anyway,
kusti bok & parruik tute

There is a Gordon A Stuart born 1922 in Greenwich, mother's maiden name Cooper on Ancestry.com. I'm not sure if that is much help.
In 1915 there is a James R H Stuart marrying a Jane S Cooper in Southwark which is also in S-E London.
You've probably already seen this but perhaps when you get the marriage certificate it could narrow it down. :)

According to the death indexes, a Gordon Arthur STUART died in the Lewisham district March 1995 and the given date of birth is 14 Dec 1921 (as supplied by the person who registered the death) - would this be him?
Casalguidi :)

Oooh, that would tie in with the birth.
Good Luck :)
