Title: Look up Bridport Baptism Thomas Tucker c1789
Post by: sjmccall on Monday 26 May 08 16:58 BST (UK)

I am trying to find a Baptism for Thomas Tucker baptised in Bridport c1789. It may not be precise as the year has been calculated from burial record and MI.
I should be very grateful for any help on this.
Many thanks.

Hi Sue,

Welcome to RootsChat. :)

Firstly, I would suggest you remove your e-mail address. You will get an e-mail whenever anyone posts here anyway.

Sadly, the Bishops Transcripts for 1789 seem to be unavailable (see http://www.opcdorset.com/Allington&Bridport/Allington/AllingtonBaps1781-1837.htm).

You may get a little more if you contact them.

Thank you for your interest Paul.

Someone had told me that the BTswere missing for that year. I was wondering if PRs were available.

Unfortunately the OPC site pages for Bridport and Allington only has Allington baps and there is no OPC at present to do a lookup.

I have removed my email address. I was worried about that but as there was an icon at the top to add it, I thought maybe that was needed for anyone to get in touch.

Many thanks again.
Sue

A pleasure Sue.

I've noticed some other districts in the Dorset OPC now have both BTs and PRs. Perhaps Bridport will get some PRs soon.

There's a lot of patience required in this game. :)

I have just had an email from Dorset Record Office. I had asked about purchasing a copy of the appropriate microfiche and didn't expect to here back so quickly nor was I expecting to be given any information before I bought the microfiche!

He isn't on the parish records apparantly, although an older one (about 25 years older) is. I was aware of that one and can't account for his life after baptism

I think I am going to have to check whether there can be a mistake on the MI transcription from which the dob was calculated and see if I can get his burial record (he is not on the online NBI at findmypast).

Thanks for your continuing interest Paul. I dont think anyone can do much more to help now until I verify his age.
Sue
