Title: Bolton records office info
Post by: pippalew on Friday 23 May 08 20:44 BST (UK)
Hello all!  Has anyone been to Bolton records office? Is there such a thing as a Kelly's directory type resource for Bolton? I am looking for information on Thomas Brown born c 1875, who I know was attending Victoria Wesleyan Methodist on Grecian Cresecent in 1910. I want to try and find out where he was living and what his job was. Any suggestions/advice would be wonderful. many thanks, Pippa

Have you looked for him in a census?

Hi

If he was only a parishioner - street directories will not help.  If he was a clergyman then that's different.

What was his occupation on the 1901 census

Hi all. Thanks for your replies.  Thomas was a machinist in 1901, in Wigan. But at some point after that he lost all his fingers on right hand in an accident.  I am told that he had a sweet shop which he opened with compensation money, but I can't prove this yet! And now my idea was to look into directories for bolton and see if I can find him living somewhere around Grecian crescent? Is there any way of doing something like that? Cheers, pippa
