Their children where Agnes, Catherine, Margaret, Mary, Alexander, David, George, James, John, Robert and William.
Son James married Isabella Millar.
Can anybody help?

found the marriage of james and isabella, but it has thrown up a wee problem my friend, or maybe you already know?
james and isabella married 12th oct 1858 at old monkland
children of this marriage
james...28/2/1859-old monkland

i do not have access to the 1871 census for this family so you will have to use scottishpeople's website.
now my problem...according to the 1861 census, there was a daughter margaret in the census, now margaret cannot be the daughter of isabella, guess what.....
margaret pettigrew shearer...christened in hutchison relief church 26/10/848
mother janet erskine?
guess what...
janet erskine married james shearer 7/11/1847 gorbals glasgow
do you think your janet died? do you recognise this?

Janet Shearer (1844 to circa 1934), wife of Alexander Miller (1840 to 1900) and daughter of George Shearer and Barbara Shearer (Le[a]tham) is my great-grandmother! Please get back to me because I have much more information. Thank you.
-
Hi
Janet Shearer is my first cousin x3 removed.
Her grandfather John Shearer 1798 - 1866 is my 3rd great grandfather. I know his parents were George Shearer and Mary Park but that is as far back as I have.
If you have anything you could share I would be grateful for it.
Thanks
-
James,
I'm sorry if I got your hopes up, but I can't help you trace the Shearers any further back. All the information I have relates to the Millers (Janet's husband was Alexander Miller) and to her mother, who was a Leatham before marrying George Shearer.
Take care,
David Miller
