Hi,
The father of my eldest son is no longer in contact with me and I would dearly like to complete his side of the family tree for my childs benefit. I have limited information and would appreciate any help I can get.
All the information I have is a name (Denis Fitzgibbon) and I know he died in 1980's and is buried in Kensal Green Cemetary London.
Denis Fitzgibbon was born in Ireland and married Mary Fitzgerald from Ireland. The marriage would have take place between 1940 - 1945 as their first child was born in 1945 (roughly).
There 3 children were born in london between 1945-1950.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Hi tigerbelle,
You have a difficult task there!
Who was Denis Fitzgibbon? Was he your ex-husband's father?
You could search for the deaths of Denis and Mary on the English birth marriage and death indexes on a site such as Ancestry, if you have a subscription. Do you know if they were married in England, or Ireland? If in England, you could also search for their marriage on these indexes, and also the births of the children.
It is very hard to do research in Ireland over the Internet - there are not a lot of resources online. If you could find out a little more information about Denis and Mary, you could post on the Ireland board here and see if anyone can help you.
If you don't already have a subscription to a site such as Ancestry which has the bmd indexes, it would be worthwhile doing so, for the searches you need to make.

If your son is in contact with his father, could he ask for some information? Being a child of a very bitter divorce, I know all the issues and problems that come up from it, but who could resent something like this, done for your son. Another possible option is any siblings of your ex who might be able to help?

It is usually more difficult to get information from recent records online due to privacy issues, restrictions, etc.
If your ex-husband can't or won't supply any family details are there any other relatives of his that might be able to help- perhaps a cousin or someone a bit father removed?

Marriage
March 1942, district Kensington, volume 1a, page 341
Denis Fitzgibbon to Mary Fitzgerald
This should give you their ages and their fathers' names. You should then be able to get back a bit further.
Births I have put on private message.
