Title: Please help!!

My grandfather was in the Boar War and lived at Gawsworth near Macclesfield.  I assume that he would have joined a regiment near to his home.  That is all that I know so how would I find out more information.

Hi Shirle
Do you have a name to help search archives? Theres a few Boer War Vets service records on Ancestry in Pension and Burnt Records...Lads that served in the Great War with prior service.

As well as Regulars there were also a lot of Volunteers who went out to SA.

Afternoon Shirle,

I can not help you on finding out if your grandfather fought in the Boer War but if you post his name up others my be able to help in the search.

My Grandfather's name is Jonathan Longden, born Macclesfield.
