Post by: littleclaire on Thursday 21 August 08 21:31 BST (UK)
Hi Adam

Mid to late Eighteenth Century I think

I have a John Robinson who had children beginning in 1740 so I guess he will have been born around 1710-20. His children's births span from 1740 - 1757. I don't know if any of them died young, but I suspect they did. I am particularly interested in John and if there is a gravestone if there is any mention of his wife. I have not found his burial yet, but think it will be in this parish.

If you need any more info then I will give you as much as I can!

Thanks for all you help

Claire

Hello Yvonne. There are no Elizabeth Robinsons at St Helen churchyard.
I think for that date you would need the small municipal churchyard on the West Auckland to Darlington road.
Sorry I have not done that one.

Hello again. Just noticed that you posted this in the wrong place.
There are two sections for St Helen, Auckland.
If you want to find it just Google it by typing in the box M Inscriptions St Helen, Auckland.
Two will show, you can then view the surnames in the correct one.

Hello Helene. There is only one gravestone for Wilkinson at St Helen and I have already posted it on a previous posting.
There is one out of 16 gravestones  for Wilkinson at Hamsterley that mentions William and Elizabeth and son Thomas. I think you already have that?
I must say that most of them are from the 1900's

Hello Jan. There is one for Coates and one for Jackson  but you have put the request on the wrong list. The lists were St Helen A to O and P to Y.
It is important to get the name on the correct list so others who are researching various names can find them easy.
Also The inscriptions that I have are the names that are listed on the first posting
If the name is not there then I do not have the inscription.
Here are the Robson inscriptions :-

To the memory of John Young Robson, son of John and Ann Robson of Hunwick, farmer, who died March/21/1854 aged 2 years.
Also of William Robson, who died April/9/1863 aged 1 year and 10 months.
Also the above named John Robson, who died March/25/1873 aged 45? years.

This next stone was in a bad condition but I will give you what can be read.

Sacred to the memory of Margaret Robson, wife of ?????????
of Wide Hope, ????????????? the 25/1816 ????????????????? wide Hope ?????
1838
Sorry but that is the only lettering left that  could be read.

Affectionately in memory of Mary Robson, wife of George Robson of Royal Oak, who died 7/November/1864 aged 71 years.
Also the above George Robson, who died April/2/1879 aged 74 years.

Hello Robert. It does not save me any legwork because I already have all the inscriptions  on my data base.
One thing that I will point out is that that list is not as complete as my list because I include all information.
For example one(Wade) gravestone gives a Jane Matthew wife of Thomas Matthews and daughter of George and Rachel.
I had a look on my data base out of interest because I thought the name Wade would be quite common.
It was not because there are only 3 other gravestones, two for Stanley, Crook and one for Mugglewick .

Hope you can help with these Robinsons.

I'm looking for John Robinson. I don't have a date of his death. This is what I have on him and his family.
John Robinson b. 1822 Hamsterley, Durham, his wife Jane b. about 1837 Newcastle, son John George b. 1862 in Helmington Row ( was in Canada 1916), Thomas b. 1870 in Rough Lea, Durham, William b. 1872 in Rough Lea, Ralph b. about 1878 in Crook.
Would be nice to know where they are buried.

Thank

Hello Aley. The Robinson name is very common amongst the records that I have. In fact there are hundreds.
I have looked at all the gravestone with the christian names that you supplied and none of the gravestones with the correct dates come anywhere near "datewise".
It looks like the Robinsons of your family do not have any gravestones left standing.
