just wondering if there are any flatleys that could be connected to my familytree ,
mine came over to England from county mayo around 1841 and mainly lived in kidderminster but it appears that they were up north as well.

There are certainly a number of Flatley’s in the area around Ramsbottom, Lancashire (myself being one!).
I think my Granddad came over in the 1920’s and I know his brother Michael was also over here. My Granddad worked as a navvy on sites and quarries in the area with my dad being born at “2 The Huts” on the side of Scout moor.
My Granddad, Martin Flatley, was born in Kilmovee, Killkelly, County Mayo in July 1895.

Hi Mick, Is your dad named Thomas? Did you live in Edenfield...once upon a time? If so I have a photo of your dad at the grave of our Great Gt. Grandfather Thomas Flatley, father of Patrick Flatley who was the father of Martin Flatley late of Turn Village. Will wait for your reply.

Hi, yes that is my dad. Unfortunately he passed away in January but would love to see a copy of the photo.
Sorry this has taken so long to reply.
All the best.

What a lovely site thi is!!
As I now approach my 82nd. year, I remember with great affection a school teacher at my primary school, St. Wilfrid's, Hulme, Manchester, from which I passed my eleven plus. The teacher was William Flatley and he was the English master. He was, in my opinion, the best teacher I ever met and I feel that my love of writing and language was instilled in me by that gentle man. He may well not be a member of your family, but the name itself brings back really nice memories!!
