Title: 1901 census please, re WW1 memorial
Post by: KA on Tuesday 06 May 08 15:41 BST (UK)
I'm doing some research on the local war memorial, and I wondered if anybody could help me.  One surname 'Bareham', has 6 christian names.  I am trying to investigate if they are all from the same family or extended family.

Names of three of the men fallen in WW1 are Herbert A, Percy A and William.  No parental details are given on the CWG site.  Two more names are Fred (son of John) and Victor, son of George and Annie.

I am also interested in an Ebenezer Bareham, whose name does not appear, but his son does, Maurice A V. in WW2, to see if he is linked with the men that died in the First War.

If anybody can see them in the 1901 census, in Clare, Essex, I would be most grateful for a look up.

Kind regards

KA

Hard to ID William and Herbert without more details. apart from the above one, there's one William age 21 son of Thomas and Ann(?).

There are also 2 Herberts:
- one age 7 son of Walter and Ellen
- one age 11 in Stoke by Clare, son of David and Eliza

Thanks Tati,

Yes, Clare is in Suffolk and not Essex.  ::) It's on the borders, and Stoke by Clare is the next village along.

Many thanks.  That's most of the men accounted for.  I can work on how the fathers were related now.

Cheers.

HI

from looking at the CWGI is your Percy A Bareham the one shown as being in the London Regiment ( London Scottish)

If so, there is a WW1 War service record for Percy Archibald Bareham with the same Service Number  on Ancestry which shows him to have been born in circa 1885 and his father was known as Harry Bareham.

hi ive just seen your post.

i believe fred bareham to have lived in mansfield on the 1911 census with my grgrgrandmother julia deeks nee bareham  and sadly it looks as if he died in 1917 in the first world war.
