Title: Blackford Public School, Dora Macintosh (Craig?)
Post by: BlueTans on Saturday 03 May 08 10:17 BST (UK)
Did anyone know a Dora Macintosh (may have been known as Dora Craig)?  I have a leaving certificate for Blackford Public school in 1928, when the Head Teacher was George Elder.  I am looking for this side of the family tree and this is one of the only pieces of information I have regarding Dora (who is now deceased)!

Thank you

I see that Blackford Primary School is still open so the old registers will still be with the school. Whether they would give you that information or not I don't know. I found my information in my local archives as the school had been closed. This gave me the name and address of the person who had registered the children.
Perhaps someone local to Blackford can help you.

Hi Rae

It is the public school she went to and I can find no records of it so I think it is now closed, I can only find details about the primary school.

You mentioned you found details in the archives for the school that had closed - which archives are these?

The register I looked at was for Berwickshire. I went to the main archives for the Borders which were in Selkirk at that time. Perhaps you could contact the Perth archives to find out where the records you are looking for might be.
