My grandmother's eldest brother was drowned just a month before she was born. His death had a huge impact on the family.
I wonder if there is a way to find out more about it.
MICHAEL GREEN was born on 4th March 1886 in Virginia, Co. Cavan and tragically was drowned on the 6th October 1903. Only 17 years old.
I'm told he is buried at Knocktemple cemetary with his parents: Michael and Catherine. I was wondering if there would have been any death notices in the local paper at the time.

Not sure which library would keep copies of old newspapers (usually newspaper archives are in certain libaries and each smaller one would not have such a collection) but it would more than likely have been mentioned in a local newspaper.
There might be a death notice, longer obituary and perhaps even an inquest in the paper.
