Hi,would anyone on the board know the whereabouts of Barrett Road New Plymouth. Is it in Omata? My reason for asking,Ihave two photos of my Gt grandfathers house, one taken in 1881 when it was a small cottage, the other taken in 1911 I think they are both the same house although its hard to say as so much has been built on.I know that the cottage was in Omata, but the 1911 Taranaki Electoral Roll has my Gt grandfather and family living at Barrett Road. The family eventually moved into the city to live at 19 Vivian St.Hope someone can clear up this small matter for me.Cheers.Gereon. :)

Hi Gereon
Shall I send you a map. Barrett road is the last Road on the left on the outskirts of town before heading towards Omata and around the coast. Any idea where the cottage may have been, there are a few rundown places out that way. As you turn into Barrett Road now you pass through a newly developed area called Whalers Gate. About a mile or two past that you leave the residential area and its all country :) Send me a picture if you like of the homestead and I shall go and have a look exactly where it is. Have you any picutres of 19 Vivian Street?
Regards
