Post by: Tropical on Sunday 27 April 08 12:03 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I have come to a small brick wall for my gg grandmother Ann/e Tarnham/Tarnam/Taman
Anne married Thomas Brooks in 1844 have cert, i have searched and searched for Ann's birth, baptism.
Ann was born around 1820ish could have been in Aylesbury or Ellesborough, her father's name is William Tarnham

She married Thomas in Ellesborough, i do have all the census returns for Thomas & Ann just can't find where and when she was born.

Any help will be greatly received
Many thanks in advance

Ellesborough is close to Little Kimble. Little Kimble registers have no coverage on the IGI (or the BVRI) so it might be worth checking if the missing family baptisms are in the Little Kimble registers? There was also an Independent Chapel in Ellesborough whose records may not have survived for the period you are interested in.

Thanks Valda,

I did a baptism search with bfhs a couple of weeks back just for the parishes of Aylesbury, Ellesborough and Wendover and Ann did not turn up but William, George & Joseph came up.

So i will probably ask for another baptism search for the Tarnham and variants from about 1800 to 1900 and see what comes up in the search.

Thank you for finding the 1841 census return, i have that saved

Many thanks Valda

I found Ann's sister Sophia born in 1816 in Ludgershall, Buckinghamshire, England.
In 1841 (over 20 years after they were born)I have them in Ellesborough, but that's not where the baptism's will be found.
Hope this helps,
