Hi Liz,
I have not found your James, only these two who you may like to keep on file for a later date?
Thomas Blackberry Born 5 July 1816 Christened 30 August 1818 St Mary Whitechapel
William Henry Blackberry Born 22 May 1818 Christened 16 August 1818 St Mary Whitechapel
Both were sons of James and Margaret

- I can see Ann Condon but not James Blackberry (or any Blackberry) on the convict index.
However, there is a reference to James Blackberry in 1853, heading to Melbourne on the Clarence, that gives his 'ship to colony' as Forfarshire. Given this, I can see him in the convict index as James 'Blacberry'. He arrived in 1843.
Lloyd's Illustrated London Newspaper (London, England), Sunday, December 11, 1842
lists J. Blackberry as among those transported - 10 years. He was tried at the Old Bailey, so you should be able to find him at http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/ (when it comes back up - probably overwhelmed at the moment after being linked from the BBC etc). The trial might mention any aliases.
