Hello :)
Can anyone help me find my GG Grandfather Arthur Edgar Kaile? ??? H was born 1848/9 in either Surrey (Guildford area) or London (Bromley by Bow area). We were always told that he came from the Surrey area and his first son, my G Grandfather was born in Shackleford in 1868, but Arthur gives his place of birth in 1881 census as London. I am trying to link my family with other Kaile's and am desperate to find the names of his parents to do so, can anyone help me please, ;)
Kind Regards
Debbie

Hi
Hes not on the 1851 index yet but it is updated from time to time. Perhaps you could try the family history society's to see if any Census indexes? if not done so already :)

Hi. I've got an Arthur Edgar Kaile/Kraile. If I've got it right, his mother was Elizabeth Kaile. AEK seem to have beeen illegitimate, as in 1851 ?(sorry, lost the scrap of paper) she was back living with her parents Robert and Harriet Kaile at the lodge of Motcome House. in 1841 they were all there and Robert is listed as gardener
This is the onlyArthur Edgar Kaile/kraile I've ever found
can do some descndants, if you like

1851 - is this him with his grandparents and mother living at the Lodge, Motcombe, Dorset?
Kaile Robert 61 Head Gardener Donhead, Wiltshire
Kaile Harriet 68 Wife Wife Of Above Mere, Wiltshire
Kaile Elizabeth Mary 32 Daughter Dress Maker Motcombe, Dorset
Kaile Arthur Edgar 8 Grand Son Son Of Above London, Middlesex
She seems to have married Henry Counter in 1856 and on the 1861 census is listed as a Elizabeth M Counter, widow with an 11 year old daughter in law(?) called Emily, but no sign of Arthur Edgar.
Possible his baptism - Arthur Edgar Kaile St Luke, Chelsea 18 June 1843, born Jany 8th 1843 to Eliza and William Kaile (Carpenter James Street). BMD registers have him as Arthur Edgar Longhurst Kaile, does that ring a bell?
I know none of this makes sense if he was illegitimate, they might not be the same people tho :-\

Hi There
Thanks to all for the information..Yes Arthur was born illegitimate, his father was Ephraim Longhurst, hence one of his middle names, Ephraim was a married man with a family so marriage was out of the question, but it seems he acknowledged the child as his own. Arthur was Elizabeth's only child, and Arthur was Born in Stafford House in London (just round the back of Buckingham Palace), If the christening is his i suspect that William Kaile was Elizabeth's brother..on his marriage certificate Arthur had listed his father as an Edward Kaile - Mechanic...haven't a clue who he was if he even existed...but definitely not his father!!...Arthur went on to marry an Emma Tovey from East Harptree, Somerset..so i couldn't say who the "child bride" Emily was. Have now information on the Kailes going back to pre 1700's....when apparently we were called .... Coyle...yes curiouser and curiouser.. so thanks to all for your look ups
Best Regards

11 year old daughter in law(?) called Emily
The term 'daughter/son in law' was sometimes used for what we would call step-daughter/son ie a daughter/son, in the eyes of the law

Hi Debbie,
yes William was Elizabeth's brother, he was baptised on the same day, 21/5/1818, not that that makes them twins
