Hi everyone
I have found on ancestry.com some electoral records which I can't get access to. They are for Hannah Courtney (around 8 records) in Victoria.
I am trying to track Hannah's movements, and who she was living with. There are a number of records there, but I don't know for what years, and where she lived, or then moved. So if anyone has access to them can you tell me the details contained such as year, location, other persons with her and occupations?
I have previously received details of 'hannah eileen' so please ignore any such records. :)
Thanks!

Thanks Dee, those South Melbourne records are what I was after. ;D
Do you know what records I should look for if I am after pre 1900? I am not sure if electoral rolls or census records are available prior to this batch?
Kind Regards

Censuses were all destroyed.....
Directories are one possibility....but Victorian ones are not online.....
Have you checked BDM records?

Hi
I have no way of knowing if this is your Wm Courtney
Sands & MacDougall Directory 1892
COURTNEY William 24 Yarra-st, South Melbourne.
and
Sands & MacDougall Directory 1904

Thanks. Yes, I have the BDM's at home, but William just disappears from everything from 1904 onwards. Not even a death record appears. I thought maybe trying the electoral rolls may show him somewhere with hannah (his wife). At least there is the 1903 record which at least gets me to that date.
That is interesting regarding the Sands & MacDougall Directory, I will check these out.
Once again, thanks!

I have given you the details exactly as entered in the directories. So he disappeared between 1903 and 1904 when Hannah is living on her own. The 1903 entry does not mean he was necessarily living there all of 1903! There is no entry for COURTNEY Wm in the 1904 directory only for a Wm. W. If he had left Hannah and was boarding or lodging his name would not necessarily be in the directories.

Hi Caroline
I have just joined this forum and saw your enquiry re Hannah and William Courtney. William was my husband's Great Grandfather from a previous marriage and has an interesting story. I have all the info on both marriages and the death certificates. I know it is an old post but if you'd like to discuss, just get back to me. Are you related? I haven't had any new info for ages and it is always a buzz to find a new connection.

Wow! :)
We still are in the dark regarding William Courtney, so any information you may have will be gladly received!!!
Should I send you a 'personal' message through this board to provide my email address?
All we really know is William was born in Cork, Ireland, he was a widow when he married Hannah, and have no idea how he got to Australia, where he lived ('shipboard' on his marriage cert??), and where he disappeared to in early 1900!
I know a bit about his wife Hannah, but William is just a blank....
Any information regarding where he came from/parents/family/what happened to him would be greatly appreciated - I have even tried jail records with no luck!
Thankyou!!!
Caroline :)
