Title: Fudge Jamse
Post by: kmurfee on Sunday 16 January 05 00:31 GMT (UK)
Hi. I am trying to help a friend. she is from England but with no family history. Her mother name is Elizabeth Mary James, who married a Harold Fudge. She thinks around late 30's early 40's Elaine was born in Bristol England, around 1940 or 41. she has her birth cert. but you can not read it. Her father died in ww11 and her mother came to America sometime in the late 40 or 50 on the ship know what is more confusing is that immigration can not find info on her so they think she may have been a stool away on the ship. Elaine would like to know any info on her father and his side. If that can be found She said that all she could fine when her mother died was that her Grandmother name was Ellen James on her mother side. This all she has to go on.Thank You for any help ??? ???

Hi
Just had a look on the CommonWealth War Graves site for Harold Fudge & there is only one death of a seaman from Bristol. Other info for him lists his wife as Elizabeth M Fudge of St Louis, Missouri.

Could this be him. ??

Regards
Maddie

I have found the marriage of Harold's parents.

It took place in Bristol in Dec 1/4 of 1915. Volume 6a page 482

Harold FUDGE and Edith BUNDY

We should be able to trace them back a bit with that info.

Do you still need it? Or would you like the marr info between Harold junior and Elizabeth James?

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/ - incidentally you can get the medal card for Harold Fudge from WWII.

The SS Montreal City, on which Harold was serving, was torpedoed and sunk between Bristol and New York, no survivors.
