I'm sorry, but they are the oldest I know on that side. I know their daughter Margaret married a Patrick McLaughlin and their other daughter Rose married a John Doherty in the New York. Margaret and Pat stayed in Ireland. These Dohertys were supposedly from Green Castle. Thanks for your help. I hope you have a connection. Bob

Hello again Mary! Thanks for that info. I wonder if they are the same only because my gg grandmother Rose (a daughter) born 1872 is not mentioned and I believe they are from Green Castle. Is that near Carndonagh? Thanks again, Bob I notice you have Dohertys too. I have two lines at least. Are we connected possibly?

hello bob, i found that info. on familysearch.org doherty is a very common name both in derry and inishowen its like smith and jones in england. moville and greencastle are not to far from carndonagh.

I have found your Arthur Doherty/Mary Mooney. They are from Cashel,Gleneely,Culdaff.I have some Dohertys in my line from Gleneely on my husbands side .I was looking at some old records from Bocan parish in Culdaff and i found your folks. This is their Family.

Agnes, I was always assuming that this Arthur and Mary are mine. I have nothing proving that this marriage to this Mary Mooney is the right Mooney. My great grandmother was a daughter named Rose and she was born in 1876. She had a sister named Margaret and brothers named Patrick and Arthur that were born after this Arthur's death. I may have been wrong on this connection. They were from Green Castle. Bob

I was certain this was your folks. Have you proof they were from Greencastle.The Arthur and Mary that i found were married on 24 April 1853 in Bocan Church Culdaff. They were on the same page on the register as my husbands g/g/parents wedding details.

Agnes, I don't have absolute proof, but I have heard it was Green Castle. I want it to be so I could move n in the research of these two. My doubt comes when the father dies in 1872 according to your records and my gggrandmother is born in 1876.

Hello again! I have found out about more on the McLaughlins and Dohertys. The Dohertys of my great grandmother Rose born abt 1872-6 parents were Arthur Doherty and Ann Kearney. Arthur's father was a Cornelius born 1787 -1902. (yes 115 years) Ann Kearney's father was a Neal. They had about ten kids. Margaret married Patrick McLaughlin. They had a daughter named Margaret that married a Charles "Stewart" McLaughlin. (Charles mom a Stewart) Another child named Bernard Doherty b. 1887 married a Mariah Anne McLaughlin.
