I have the baptism for George Potts born 1809 Hexham off the IGIs and wondering if any one has the Bishop Transcripts for that year as i would like to know where his father William was born please. Many thanks. gladys1 :)

Hi Gladys,
Sorry to say that the Bishops Transcripts online for Hexham don't start until 1837, and Whitley by Hexham (which I see this one is) starts 1843.

Hi Jennifer i knew the Bishop Transcripts didnt start till 1837 as i have the web site but i thought maybe some one might have had the bap on discs for 1809, can they be bought from any where do you know. Regards Gladys :)

Sorry Gladys, I mis-read your message.
No doubt someone else will be able to assist!

I am not sure but I don't think Hexham fell under the jurisdiction of the Bishop in Durham during that time period. I am not sure about Whitley. Hexham parish records do not have information about parents except the father's name and his occupation, no actual birthdates except occasional ones where maybe the child is a year or older, no mother's name not even just first name.

Hello Janis, thank you for that so i think i will have to leave off William Potts for a while and may be something will turn up ;D Regards Gladys.
