Hello Dawnsay
Welcome to Rootschat ;D
Are you sure that's how her surname was spelt?
I have just looked through the birth registers for 1931 and 1932 but cannot find her. Do you know what her mothers maiden name would be?
Could it be that her birth was registered under her mothers maiden name and not Jeffrey?
Regards
Carol

I have Thame PRs on CD from Oxon FHS but the baptisms only go up to 1930 - so no Doris.
However, there is this baptism from 1928 which looks like Doris's older brother:
Baptised 14 Oct 1928 Francis Edward born Aug 18, s/o Frederick James and Winifred Louisa, plasterer, 50 High Street, Headington, Oxford. Godp: Parents, Daisy Eliza Tipple.
Not sure why they would have him baptised in Thame when they lived in Headington? Perhaps that's where Doris was baptised? :-\

Hi Jill
If that is the correct older brother then the surname WAS spelt JEFFREY and the mmn was Claridge.
Off to find any other baby born with that MMN ;D

Well they had another son in Sept 1/4 of 1931(who I won't name as he is probably still alive)......but no sign of little Doris.
Maybe they adopted her?

If Doris was 3 when she sadly died on 4th Sept 1935, she would have to have been born between 5th Sept 1931 and 4th Sept 1932.
But they had a son, John, registered in Jul/Aug/Sep 1931 the earliest he could have been born would be about end of May 1931 (being six weeks old by begining of July).
Nine months from then would be Feb 1932, thus narrowing the possible dates for Doris's birth.
If John was born later (Dawnsay - do you know your late father's birthday?) then the possible dates are even narrower.
There are a few possibities
a) We have not found the birth reg, as Jeffrey is spelt some unusual way on it - but this should be easier to check out as the range of possibe dates decreases
b) She was adopted - as has been suggested.
c) She was not actually 3 when she died - is the age clear on the cert or could it be a badly written 8, for example, or anything else? If, say, an 8, she could be Frederick's daughter from a previous marriage, of which we do not know the maiden name.
Just some thoughts

Rechecked births for all Jeff.... surnames for 1932 - none with mum's maiden name Claridge.

hi
My Father John Jeffrey was born 24th July 1931 he sadly died 23 november 1968 at the age of 37yrs old
I was able to obtain Doris death certifcate and it says she was 3yrs old
i know there was my uncle frank my dad the doris ?

So if Doris was a natural child of Frederick and Winifred, she must have been born end April - beg Sept 1932.
I am thinking Carol's adoption idea if the answer.
