Wondered if any of you can help me with the Witts Family
George Charles Witts born 01 May 1842 Berrima, NSW the son of Alfred D Witts and Rebecca Miles
Her married Sarah Lavelle (Where? When?) and they had the following children:
1 Rebecca Helen WITTS b: 1868
2 Wiliam George WITTS b: 1871
3 Alfred Charles WITTS b: 1875
4 Rose Stella WITTS b: 1882
5 Richard Walker WITTS b: 1888
No idea where any of them were born or where & when the marriage took place so I would like more info on this and also the origins of Sarah Lavelle if possible; George died in Bainsdale(?) Victoria 1890, if that is any help.

Lavelle sure led to lots of different spellings.
This may be the birth of Sarah.....
Sarah LEVELL born in 1850 at WESTERN PT
Father = William LEVELL & Mother = Ellen KENNEY
Ref = 43664
This birth record has been taken from the Parish Records ST FRANCIS, MELBOURNE, of the ROMAN CATHOLIC Denomination.

Would have to be the one on the birth record - even with multiple marriages one has to assume the birth mother knew her name - the marriage certificate of Sarah may confirm

Richard Walter Witts died in 1932 aged 46 at Bendigo reg no4366
Alfred Charles Witts died in1939 aged 63 at Carnegie reg no 4794
Rose Stella Cox died in 1948 aged 63 at S Richmond reg no 6142
I guess you might have this death in your tree
Louis Dyts WITTS died in Melbourne aged 86 in 1962 reg no 2001

Don't know why, but Alfred Charles WITTS, born Bairnsdale, died Carnegie seems to be buried at Fawkner Cem/Crem.
Alfred Charles WITTS. Service 5/6/1939 aged 63 . Roman Catholic Sect, Comp. R. Grave 3016. Alone.

Possible marriage, but I can find no children & no death for either - could be worth checking NSW

My Vic geography is NIL (well I know where Melbourne is) - so I don't know if BDale is near where she was born, nor do I know what BDale is an abbreviation for.

Hey there Trisha there is lists of abbreviated place names in the victorian Rescoures Section.
It is short for Bairnsdale.

Hi I am the granddaughter of Rebecca Witts (Gare) buried in Magill South Australia my mother was Florence May Gare born 10/5/07 who died on 20.9.1996 and is buried in South Australia
Rose Stella Witts (Cox) had two daughters Moria Ellen Cox born 18.5.1918 who is deceased and who had no children and Irene Doris May Cox 5.11.21 who is also deceased who had two children Pauline and Kenneth both still living

but Kreymborg? why do you ask

thanks for the information it has filled in a few gaps I will speak to Pauline my cousin who is the granddaughter of Stella Rose Witts and we will put together what we know of the family and send on to you. Pauline lives in South Australia as i did for many years. I now live in Melbourne Myrene

Wow this is a very old tread, so Im not sure if its still active or not.
I hope you all found the information you needed about Sarah.
Sarah is my 3x great aunt and it can be hard to find information on her at times as her last name is spelt incorrectly over multiple records... Her correct surname is Lavell.
Her father is William Lavell, born in Ireland in 1806.
Her mother is Ellen Kenny, also born in Ireland roughly around 1822.
Sarah is the youngest of 6 children. She has 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters.
William, Mary/May, John, James and Ellen (born in that order)
Her father William enlisted in the 51st regiment in England in 1825 and spent several years traveling round in service. He married Ellen Kenny in Chatham Kent, England in 1837.
How and where they meet in unknown and William's last name is spelt Lavall on their marriage certificate.
Sarah's older brother and sister, William and Mary/May, were born during their time in England. We're not exactly sure where John was born as no record can be found, though some of his marriage records and his death certificate lists his birth place as Maria Island, which is now a National Park but back in the mid 1800's it was used as a penal colony for the 51st Regiment. It is suspected that her father was there for a period of time on duty.
Her bother James was born in Hobart Tasmania. Her older sister Ellen was born in Western Port,as was Ellen.
I have more information bout them if anyone wonts to contact me 🤷🏼♀️
My linage is through Sarah's eldest bother William, he is my 3x great grandfather.

Oh and the Kreymborg's fit in because Sarah's elder sister, Ellen, married Richard Kreymborg.
