Post by: Foz on Saturday 05 April 08 12:37 BST (UK)
LILY DEAN (b.c.1903 in Bicester) married HERBERT KEEN (b.c.1904 in Bicester)

Can anyone find the date if their marriage please, around 1925/30 ?

Also the names of their parents please.

Thank you very much

Hi Foz ...

PR transcriptions of Bicester marriages only go up to 1902 - so, as Ricky says, you will definitely need to buy the certificate to get fathers' names!

Hi Foz

your welcome, looks like the only way to find the father's is the marriage cert, then we might be able to trace them back to the earlier census's

Hi again Folks,

I've found out, from someone on GR, that Herberts parents were Frank Keen and Beatrice Parker, possibly of Fewcott.   Unfortunately they didn't give me any other information.
I've not been lucky enough to find any more about them, can anyone help please?   ???

Thanks

Hi Ricky,

Thanks for the info.  Yes, it's difficult to know if this is the correct Frank.  :-\
Looks like I've got to buy certificates to find out for sure !  :(

Hi again,   ;D

I've found out from somebody else that Herbert Guy Keens parents were Frank Keen (b.c.1879 Bicester area) and Beatrice Parker (b.c.1880 Blackthorn, Bucks/Oxon).

Franks parents were Charles Keen (b.c.1846 Fewcott/Bicester) and Mary Unknown (b.c.1850)

Charles parents were Thomas Keen (b.c.1810 Fewcott/Bicester) and Mercy West (b.c.1812 Adderbury).

Can anyone help with proof of this, or any other details please?    :o

Regards

I just checked the Stoke Lyne transcripts for the baptisms of the eldest 4 boys,  and they were sons of Thomas & Mercy Keen.  On checking the actual census return (1851)  the mothers name does look like Mercy.  This all ties in with a marriage

1830 Feb 1st Thomas Keen of Stoke Lyne to Mercy West at Adderbury

Hi Debbie,

Thanks so much for your help.   :-*

It's nice to know I was on the right track !   ::)

There seem to be a lot of Keens in Fewcott/Stoke Lyne, you can't pinpoint Thomas's

father can you ??  :o

Hi

As Thomas died before 1851 we don't know his exact age,  he was not buried at Stoke Lyne and I don't have the Ardley transcripts which probably covered Fewcott to check his age given at death.

In 1841 the family are in Stoke Lyne - there is an elder daughter Keziah aged 9,  Thomas's age is given as 30.

I checked through the baptisms at Stoke Lyne,  the only Thomas I could find 1800-1820 was baptised 1805 Feb 11th s/o Thomas & Ann Keen.

There is a marriage at Bicester 13th October 1788 of Thomas Keen of Stoke Lyne to Ann Matson.

My mother was a Keen and I have managed to trace a few of my relatives from Fewcott and Stoke Lyne. My Grand father was Arthur Thomas Keen 1887 from Bicester. His father Thomas Keen 1834 Stoke Lyne, His father was Thomas 1805 who married Mercy West. His father Thomas 1760 married Ann Matson. I went through the book of baptisms and wrote down all the Keens. I have it in a spreadsheet if that would help.
I'm on Ancestry if you want to see my tree.
