Hi,
I am trying to find the family of Elizabeth Wells born Stafford 2 July 1848
IGI Batch C010223 has a christening at St. Mary's, Stafford, 14 July 1848 parents: Henry Charles & Mary Ann Wells
The same batch also has Charles Wells, 4 April 1847
Parents: Henry Chales (sic) & Mary Ann Wells
and, intriguingly, the following children:
Maria Caroline Wells 27 April 1853
Henry William Wells 27 May1854
Louisa Ann Wells 14 January 1857
Alice Margaret Wells 10 February 1858
Parents: Henry Charles & Caroline Maria Wells
So I wondered if perhaps Mary Ann died between 1848 - 1853 and Henry remarried to a Caroline Maria. On that theory I have found the following:
Marriage Q1 1846
Mary Anne Adams to Henry Wells Stone XVII 221
StaffsBMD Place: Fulford, St Nicholas, Register: Stafford
Death Q2 1851
Mary Ann Wells Penkridge XVII 93
no trace on StaffsBMD
Marriage Q2 1852
Caroline Maria Jaggard to Henry Charles Wells Lichfield 6b 397
StaffsBMD Place: Hamstall Ridgware, St Michael & All Angel's, Register: Lichfield
So it could all be possible, though the death and marriage places seem at odds with the christenings all being in the same place.
I am hoping that the 1851/1861 census info can confirm or deny this and throw more light on Elizabeth's family for me.
Thanks for reading,
Ian

Hi Yonder,
Thanks for the lookup, certainly seems to be my Elizabeth, no Charles but I have found a possible death:
Q3 1848
Charles Wells Stafford XVII 96
I wonder where Henry was?
Patrish,
Thanks for the lookup, no trace of Elizabeth so maybe the two families aren't related, unless Henry can be found on the 1851 census with a birthplace of Middlesex
Thanks for all the work people,
Ian

Dear Ian/Dragonchylde,
Did you get any further with Henry Charles Wells, chemist/druggist of Stafford? I am researching him and we may have information to swap if it is that branch of the Wellses you are looking into.
Kind regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Yes, following the information I received here I managed to get much further with the Wells side of my tree including finding a few more researchers looking into this family.
I currently have identified Henry's Parents - Henry Wells and Maria Dawson and his maternal grandparents - John Dawson and Elizabeth Green, a link to the Rugeley Poisoner and many family members not included in this thread.
I also have some possibilities for the Wells side of the tree that I have yet to confirm.
Elizabeth Wells (1848) is one of my maternal GGGrandparents so I am very interested in taking this branch of my tree further. What information do you have? PM me your email addy if you would like to continue by email.
Regards,
Ian

Hi Mark
I am also researching Henry Charles Wells and have quite a bit of information. Could we discuss? My connection is that he and his third wife Caroline were my great great grand parents. What is your connection?
Thanks
