there's dozens of candidates in 1901.
if his DOB came from a death certificate you would have to factor in an error on the part of the informant.
Did he later marry/die in Castleford, or does that geography relate to another member of his family?

How about the John perry b 1892 Durham, a grandson in normanton 1901?
-
Hi and welcome to Rootschat
John was 73 when he died in 1965 in Hemsworth reg district which means his birth year could have been between March 1891 - March 1892 dependant on the month he was born
If you know who he married - a copy of his marriage cert will at least give you his fathers name which may help to trace him on the 1901 census
Did he have any siblings that you know of - names and ages may help trace the right 1901 entry
-
The 1901 PRO index has a John Perry aged 9 b America living in Hunslet but I can't find him on Ancestry 1901

In December 2005, somebody has notified a surname correction to Ancestry on a 1901 entry that was transcribed as Jobson but which the notifier says should be Tolson
It suggests somebody else is researching this family
Although there are a few Isabella Tolson's, given Johns birthyear and the Yorkshire connection, I think this is the likeliest but the marriage cert will confirm her fathers name
I can't make out the actual address but the district was Ossett
and they were all b Ossett
Wilson Tolson probably 50 but transcribed as 30 - contractor builder
Mary 48
Richard 22
Arthur 20
Samuel H 17
Fred H 13
Henry H 13
Isabella H 11
Levi 10
Hezrah Marshall 26 boarder b Scarborough
Emma Cawthorn E 13 niece
Births Jun 1889
Tolson Isabella Horton Dewsbury 9b 711
-
1891 is indexed as Lolson - all b Ossett
Wilson Tolson 40 mason builder
Mary 38
Richard 12
Arthur 10
Samuel H 7
Fred H 5
Henry 5
Isabella H 2
Levi 2months
Ann M Horton 32 unmarried sister in law b Kirkham Gate
RG12; Piece: 3738; Folio 125; Page 54
Wilson Tolson m Mary Horton March qtr 1878 Dewsbury v9b P802

Hi - just joined rootschat today and came across your interest in Tolson. My wife's family are directly descended from Arthur Tolson , Isabella's sibling. I am researching Levi - killed in WW1. Let me know if you need anything 😀 Doug
