Will some kind soul help locate Robert Russell (a tailor) born around 1829 in Larne,Co Antrim. The Larne 1851 census indicated that Robert was in Glasgow. :D

Hi jack34
I wonder if this transcription is him.....county is wrong - but may be worth a check of the original?
1851: 64 1/2 King Street, Gorbals, Lanarkshire
644/2 - ED 19C - Pg 16
Head: Robert RUSSELL 23, Tailor, b Armagh Ireland
Wife: Agnes RUSSELL 22, b Govan Glasgow
Son: James RUSSELL 2, b Glasgow
Servant: Mary BRANWOOD 11, House Servant, b Glasgow
Same family in 1861, I think:
Blackfriars Wynd, Edinburgh Iron Church , Canongate, Midlothian
685/3 - ED 17 - Pg?
Head: Rob't RUSSELL 32, Tailor, b Ireland
Wife: Agnes RUSSELL 30, b AYrshire
Son: James RUSSELL 12, Scholar, b Glasgow
Son: William Spin RUSSELL 9, Scholar, b Glasgow
Son: Rob't RUSSELL 7, b Glasgow

Many thanks for your helpful (and speedy )reply. Apart from the county ,it all fits very nicely . I double checked on the IGI website where five of the nine children of James Russell and Margaret White were born or christened in Larne,Co Antrim.
Best regards

Hi Jack
You're welcome ;D
It is very, very possible the "Armagh" is a mistranscription from a certain source - unfortunately, it's all I have access to and as yet, a free alternative source FREECEN have not transcribed that particular part of 1851 Gorbals
Also I wondered, the child "William Spin RUSSELL" as trasncribed......
........I can see how that middle name might be a mistranscription of "ESPIE" which is also one of your Antrim surnames; were your ESPIE and RUSSELL's connected by marriage ?
Cheers

Hello Ambly,
Yes, Richard Espie married (my great aunt) Harriet Russell but this was much later ( in 1908.) "Spin "as an name appears very unlikely and I cannot see any family connection where names used were very traditional.
