Could anyone find the following on the Electoral Rolls please?
Harry SABINE and wife Hilda May.
I think they should be in Western Australia. They married there in 1907, and were both buried there.
......dee
-
1916 they are living in Brookton and Harry is an agent and Hilda - home duties. I will look further.
cando

1936 at 30 Woodsome Street, Maylands.
SABINE Hilda May Home Duties

[No way of knowing if this is your man but no death in the indexes to 1936]
Cheers
cando
Will do the others now.
-
Ooooh...that's great.....some children I didn't know about..... :D :D
Harry died in 1957, so I would think that is him.

Thanks Cando. :D
All the Deimels in Oz are my family...so any are just great.
Julius Wm is son of Julius Joseph. The family went to Western Australia for the mining. Some stayed, some returned. Julius William died in 1913 in Broken Hill.
.....dee
-
Dee have you all the electoral roll Deimel enrolments?
Cheers
Cando
-
No....I was in the middle of getting them when A****** pulled the plug! :o ;D
I'm about to have tea....afterwards I'll list the names and years I do have, in case there are any more.....
....dee
-
Heading towards the kitchen myself :) I can see Beatrice, Florence, Oscar, Oscar Charles, Harold, Hazel, Herbert and Jane.
cando
-
I have
Oscar and Jane, 1916
Herbert and Florence May in 1936
Florence May in 1925 but not Herbert
Harold and Beatrice May in 1925
and Hazel Mildred in 1936.
I have no idea who Hazel Mildred is though...she's either a daughter or a wife ....I guess Julius William could have had a wife, as could have Robert Paul. Robert Paul also died in Broken Hill in 1906.
Wonder if they died in mining accidents? That would be interesting to find out.

DEIMEL Oscar Charles Harvey Street, Cottesloe Beach Assembler
DEIMEL Jane as above Home duties
1936
DEIMEL Oscar Charles 9 Metford Street Claremont Assember
DEIMEL Jane as above Home duties
These may be useful now -
DEIMEL HAZEL M PERTH 1082 1928 SERMON HENRY G
DEIMEL HERBERT W. PERTH 606 1938 COYLE CAROLINE
DEIMEL JULIUS T. PERTH 1792 1939 GIBSON MARY E.
DEIMEL JEAN L. PERTH 45 1941 REID ALLEN H.
Hazel obviously worked under her maiden name or perhaps the marriage has ended by her 1936 enrolment.
Her birth
DEIMEL Hazel M
FREMANTLE 660 1906
And that's about it.

Many thanks Cando....that's brilliant......
Now...I found Hilda May Deimel's marriage to Harry Sabine on the WA BDM website some time ago.......have a look at it now and see what it has in the Groom's name! :o :o :o
.....dee
-
Well that is rather odd dee. Was the name an alias or is it an error in the index. The reverse marriage index shows his name :o Have you his birth details?
cando
-
As he married into the family, I hadn't explored any further. But this unusual entry is going to make me want to do so.
I wonder if I post a thread in the Common Room, and ask if anyone else has ever come across this? It has really got me intrigued.....
......dee
-
Right....just searched for SABINE marriages....and Harry's is there....and look now......
HARRY SABINE married FALSE FALSE in E COOLGARDIE in 1907
Reg no: 38
??? ??? ???
......dee
-
Reverse lookup -
DEIMEL HILDA M Female FALSE FALSE Female E COOLGARDIE 38 1907
Looks like an database error to bring both FALSE FALSE when you search each party to the marriage individually???
What about reporting it to WA BDM as you mentioned it wasn't always like that. Database errors....years since I had anything to do with designing databases.....and the memory is really rusty.
Cheers
Cando
-
It's certainly a weird one. I had a look for a way of contacting W A BDM.....can't find an electronic contact, so looks like it has to be snail mail......drats! That's a pain.......
Had another thought go through my head.......what if the marriage was found to be fraudulent.....would they amend the database then? Don't really know enough about these things.
Can't find Harry entering WA before 1899 on the Passenger CD ......and earliest BDM entry is an 1898 marriage entry for an Ada Elizabeth SABINE.
......dee
-
Dee a possibility -
SABINE Harry
16 Jul 1875
Father Eustace Powhatan SABINE
Mother:Charlotte Isabel MACGEORGE
at North Adelaide Ade 153/398
and there are no marriage for the above in the SA index to 1016
Cheers
cando
-
Now that makes sense......thanks Cando.....I hadn't left WA!
Well actually I did....Iwent out to the garden for a while! ;D ;D ;D
......dee
-
His parents marriage is on the marriage index and also a number of siblings marrying around the same period.
Cheers
cando
-
Yes.....and BISA has the families....well established in SA .....unfortunately no marriage listed for Harry.
No worries really....Harry Sabine and Hilda Deimel are only a little twig on a side branch of the family. I just found that index entry unusual.....and will follow it up with a letter. It will be interesting to see if I get a reply!
......dee
-
Just found a way to contact them online, so have done so. :D
....dee
-
I have just received an email from W A BDM re the unusual entry for the marriage.....as you suspected, Cando....they inform me that it was a computer glitch with the Index and that it has been fixed.
I shall check! :D :D :D
......dee
-
I do not know if this is helpful; you may already know. ??? Julius Joseph Deimel's naturalisation (1911) is on the National Archives. It has that some of his children live in South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria. He lived in 22 Henry St, St Peters, SA and was born on 5 July 1848 in Westphalia, Prussia, Germany.
Cheers Elfie ;D
-
Thanks Elfie.....my ggg-father was a Deimel, and Julius Joseph was one of his children. I have traced the Deimels back in Brilon, Westphalia to the early 1700s. :D :D
Julius Joseph had quite a lot of children and it is tracking them and their children down in Australia that is proving more difficult. :-\
......dee
-
Not a problem. I wasn't sure, so I posted it just in case ;D! 8 children is a lot to keep track of, I look in the electoral rolls, cando seems to cover it at the moment.. :D Good luck!
Cheers Elfie
-
Ten children in all, Elfie....but one died young and the other remained in South Australia, so has been much easier to track for me. :D :D
.....dee
-
My mistake.. I only wish that there were more Electoral Rolls available for more years and states. Now that would be interesting! ;D
-
Just thought I'd report that as a result of this thread, I have been contacted by a Sabine/Deimel descendant, and we are exchanging information.
Another success for Rootschat. :D :D :D

Hi , looking for the same Harry, found him on WA marriage register, 1907 ref 38 . only other info he had 4 daughters. anyone with more?
-
Hi,
New to here so might be a bit disjointed .... tracing the Sabine family in Australia. Have most on Harry up to his marriage ie, parents, grandparents etc.
Is this of any help?
-
Hello allaust.
Welcome to Rootschat. :D
Rootschat is a wonderful site, but it does take a little time to become familiar with it's layout and facilities, as well as its rules.
One rule is that no email addresses should be posted, so it would be a good idea if you used the MODIFY button on your message, and removed your email address. If we want to exchange those, we use the personal message system, which you should be able to do after you have posted about 3 messages.
I have already noted your address, and I have sent you a personal message, which you can access at the top right hand corner of the page where you should see a greeting and a message telling you that you have a personal message.
Re the Sabine family, my interest is that Hilda May Deimel who married Harry Sabine was a daughter of Julius Deimel, who in turn was the brother of my gg-grandmother Maria Anna Catherina Auguste Deimel.
I, too, am aware of four daughters born to this couple. I have the marriages of two of them, and their deaths.
Dee :D :D
-
Hi,
Thanks for that Ok, will hunt around and find my post and remove address. Probably just automatic I did that.
Re Harry, he was one of a number of children of Clement Sabine ... I have info if you are interested.
Would love the information re Harrys daughters, couldn't find much reference to them in WA libary. are you in Australia?
thanks
Julie
-
Julie,
I'm in South Australia. :D
I think you should now be able to send personal messages.
To do that, all you have to do is click on the little green scroll under a person's username and avatar.....and a message box will open. :D :D
Dee
-
Well done, allaus....I see you manged to edit out the email address. :D :D
Saves a moderator seeing it and doing it and posting a blue message about it. ;D ;D

Hi , looking for the same Harry, found him on WA marriage register, 1907 ref 38 . only other info he had 4 daughters. anyone with more?

-
Welcome to Rootschat, Hammocoll :)
I'm at present away from home, and don't have all my information on my laptop. I'm not sure if I can help you with any information that will prove that the Jean SABINE named on your father's birth certificate is Jean Isobel SABINE but it seems most likely.
I can certainly help you with lots of information about the DEIMEL family.
Once you have posted two more messages on this thread, we'll be able to send eah other private personal messages via the Personal Message system provided by Rootschat. Then we can exchange email addresss, which is not allowed on the threads for privacy reasons.
Hi Allaus..... :)
Dee :)
-
Great Dee, thanks.
I`m 99% certain its the same Jean Isobel Sabine,Just a matter of me learning how to obtain the info i need.Coll
-
Hammocoll,

-
Hi Dee, no i don`t have the marriage cert, would love it though.thankyou Coll
-
I don't have it, I'm afraid, however you can find her marriage details at
http://www.wamarriage.info/
These details should enable you to get a copy of the marriage certificate if you wished.
Dee :)
-
Dee, not having any luck getting the marriage details on this site! I have no idea of the year, would that matter?Coll
-
The only detail I put in was Sabine, Coll......try that and if you don't find it, let me know and I'll type up the details for you.
Dee :)
-
Dee,Thanks, got it now, Coll
-
Glad you found it , Coll..... :D
You'll find it often pays to use as little information as possible in search engines, and only add additional details if there are too may results.
