Isnt that a great title!!Id really love a T-shirt with that on it .I have an female convict ancestor-Sarah King, age 20,tried croyden 22-7-1799,7 years arrived per speedy(ship),april 1800.Ive never been able to find out what she was charged with. She eventually married Samuel Sherlock(twice)my maternal ancestor,I have lots of info on the sherlocks, but sarah fascinates me ,I tried old bailey, but the dates seem to early to be her. Hi Chrissy
Put that title into a google search. You will find lots of hits. There is a searchable CD around somewhere with all the data. Might even be lists on line.

I'll check out the book for you.
I have the newspaper report from my convicts trial.
Armed with the information you have maybe someone could go to "Colindale House" the newspaper Library in London and check the "Croydon Guardian" for you.
Cheers

Hello Chrissy
Found this newspaper article for you.
Sarah received the lightest sentence for crime/s done at a time of economic depression and high unemployment with the Industrial Revolution.
"ASSIZE INTELLIGENCE.
. . .
At Croydon, J. Stevens, J. Lovell, Sarah King and Sarah Whaley, for burglaries."
["The Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury", Friday, August 2, 1799, p. 3, Issue 3567.]
Sarah Whaley (aka Wheatley) came out to VDL on the same boat, so sweet to know she wasn't alone at such a young age. I'll look up the boys now.
Never be embarrassed about your forebears, no one knows the circumstances of their lives.
Best wishes

Thank you very much Trish.
Once I get my head around the technical side of using RootsChat, am I permitted to offer to do gratis look-ups in Western Australia?
Thank you again for your message,
Denise

Hello Denise & welcome from me too.
You are welcome to do as many lookups as you want anywhere on here regarding any subject.
That also goes for asking for help.
-
Go for it Denise.
I started on here looking for help with my Ancestors and now like Jim spend my time helping others.
Trish (in Sydney) :)

Welcome from me too Denise :)
You could add your offer to the Australia Resources and Offers Page
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/australia-resources-offers/
Just hit NEW TOPIC near the top of the page and use a title like "OFFER W.A. lookups"
I'm sure your help will be much appreciated. :)
Do you have online access to W.A. newspapers beyond 1955 (via a W.A. State library card)? There have been several requests for death notices which no-one has been able to help with previously.
