Beware that occasionally you will find the time of birth on a birth certificate when the baby was not a twin

(Apart from Scotland)
Could the 'single' birth with a time have been a Twin Birth where one of the twins was Stillborn ?

Possibly but I have a vague recollection of reading about an individual registrar somewhere always recording the time of birth when he could find it out.

Many thank's to all who replied , i see from some of the replies that scotland (like some other countrys appear to give more details on their certificates ) i read somewhere that Australia (think it was there ) that on death certs they even give siblings names etc where possible , wish we had that here in the u.k.

As a twin. One of four sets born of my parents.
I have many Copies of birth certs.
And every one is an independent issue for an individual.

This is illustrated by entries on BMD with consecutive
numbering of register entries. This could be a way of making
your checks.

Sometimes one twin will appear on one page and the other twin on the next page.

Hi

Just as a footnote, parish records also often contain "twin son of" or "twin daughter of" in the entries, useful for working out the difference between two children baptised on the same day with different birth dates, & two children baptised on the same day who were twins.
