1881 census
I have traced Charlotte Beale b.1823, Lydia (grandaughter) b.1857, William (son) b.1879. to Cripplestone, Cranborne, and Charlotte was a dressmaker.
I believe that Charlotte married Alfred Beale in 1860.
Any information about the 1861 or 1871 census for Lydia would be appreciated.
What I do have in Cranborne is two Alfreds (bp 1819, and bp 1820) marrying two Sarah's which is why I am confused.

Birthplaces should always be included in any lookup requests. As you haven't given any details of their birthplaces - I don't know if these are the correct entries
1861 shows Charlotte Beale b 1823 Cranborne married to Charles W b 1821 Cranborne
1861 Lydia Beale aged 3 b Islington Middlesex parents Alfred 29 b East Malling Kent and Mary Ann 28 b Islington
Are you sure William b 1879 is Charlotte's son - she would have been 56 when he was born

on the 1881 census lydia is only 2 so born 1879 not 1857
william is 24 so born 1857 not 1879.

Thanks Wozzle - so Lydia would not appear on any previous census if she was only 2 years old in 1881

Many thanks team, apologies that I got the dates round the wrong way, a silly mistake.
Is there anyway someone could link back to earlier census. I have Alfred bp 1819 m Sarah, having a son William bp 1842 m Mary Ann, who had 4 children Mary Jane bp 1871, Edward bp 1875 William bp 1878 and Ellen 1862.
From the information provided on Lydia, I am not sure these Alfreds are the same people. It could be that the two Alfred's that I have been looking at are not Lydia's father at all. All the born Beales would be from Cranborne, Cripplestone area.
In 1851, Alfred and Sarah are living with Sarah a niece - this Alfred is not related to Lydia, so is the other ? or is there a third?
Too much thinking before work, I had better go!
Any help would be gratefully received. bealesofcranborne
