Title: Little Cumbrae Lighthouse keeper 1908/9
Post by: JeniP on Monday 24 March 08 16:49 GMT (UK)
My great grandfather was the light house keeper on the Little Cumbrae from 1908-1909. His name was Alexander Stewart. I know nothing more about him and I wondered how he would have got that job for only one year. My local history library has dug out some research that shows most of the lighthouse keepers were cradle-to-grave. I can only presume he was a local lad and got a "temp" job until a real lighthouse keeper came along! Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

This bit about the Flanna Isle Lighthouse and it's crew may answer your query!
