Is anyone interested in the RILES family of Chesterton who appear to have been baptised in Wolstanton?
I have a vague connection and would like to link up with Samuel RILES, linen and woollen draper - born c1799 in Chesterton - who was in London in 1832 and retired in Chesterton House, Plaistow, Essex by 1851.
Would like to prove Samuel was some kinsman to Sarah RILES bapt.1777 daughter of John and Mary. Sarah RILES married John BINDLEY who was brother to my Sarah WEBB nee BINDLEY.
Sarah RILES' nephew, Matthew WEBB, was an apprentice to Samuel RILES in London and I would like to find that Sarah and Samuel are related - too much of a coincidence otherwise.
Any information appreciated.

Thank you Rumpel....
Am in the middle of something else at present but thank you for the references, some of which I have seen. However, I will be most pleased to receive anything which you may find regarding the STILES, BINDLEY or WEBB families.
Yes, from Adelaide where it is currently a cold, miserable day. Hope your part of the world is brighter although I'm told today that Vancouver is presently not even as warm.... Jill

Did you by any chance find any information on Riles Road?? I'm looking for information on the residents of 41 Riles Road, Plaistow, London in 1938. I assume that the road was bombed beyond repair during the second world war or rebuilt on and didn't keep its name.
Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Afraid time has permitted me no further RILES research but a quick look for you has revealed that in 1914, the London Tilbury and Southend Railway, goods and coal station, was situated on Riles Road, Plaistow ESS - see 1914 Kelly's Directory of Essex.
Hence I would suggest that Riles Road may have been swallowed up with the railway expansion and would urge you to follow this line of enquiry. The Essex Archives may also be able to assist.
I also noted from a Google search that there is a forum group interested in this railway and would suggest that you join that and ask your questions. Railway historians are interested in all manner of things associated with the railways. Hope this helps. Jill
