Hi ... hope you can help me with this one.
My grandfather's brother was killed in action during WW1. He is on The Roll of Honour, and I have found his grave in CWGC. However, what I would like to do is find where his name is inscribed on a war memorial here at home.
Is there a central point to find where named persons are inscribed? Do they put the fallen on memorials in their parish of birth, or where they were living before setting off to the theatre of war?
There's a bit more info on him here http://www.oursutherlands.com/Gen_2/william1893.html
I look forward to your suggestions, and thanks!

He is, of course, named on the Scottish National War Memorial at Edinburgh Castle (see website). There are no rules regarding local war memorials. People appear all over the place, sometimes in several. Even those who returned are sometimes commemorated. The memorial committees or whatever established their own rules about who qualified and why. Often it was up to relatives to put names forward.
