Title: N°5 Photo for restoration
Post by: Famille Ricard on Tuesday 11 March 08 12:37 GMT (UK)
Hello members,

I have just found this old photo. Could anyone restore this for me in its original black & white (not in color !)
Thank you,
Claire

Hi,
I know you have scanned at 300dpi but you also compressed the photo to make it smaller in kb size, thus reducing the quality.  Is it possible to rescan at 300dpi and not compress or reduce the quality setting and post it as is. If it comes up at more than 500kb in size please pm me, I will reduce it for you without losing quality.

It will be worth taking the extra trouble as I'm sure it will be easier to restore and give you a good copy.
thanks
Jenny

Thankyou Jenny,

did you uncheck the adjustments
Descreening filter
unsharp mask filter
colour restoration?

Strange it should be so pixelated if you have done all that. Was it the original photo? If if was a print from a previous scan, then nothing will bring back the pixels without rescanning the original.

Jenny

ps another thought, did you resize the photo afterwards?

Original photo scanned with the same settings as yours ! Not compressed neither resized !!!!!!

Thankyou anyway.
