Hello,
I don't if it possible to look up a roperty only, but I would really like to see you lived in The Plough (public house) in the 1861 & 1871 census (unsure if possible for 1841 and/or 1851 census, but would be great if available).
Many thanks,
David :D
ps. I have lived at the Plough for the last 8 years.

what is the name of the road or street.
the only ones i can see at this time are the swan and the kings head
i still have a few pages to look through though.

Hello,
Actual address is 123 High Street North
Stewkley
LU7 0EX
It was a pub in 1881, and thought it had been backto 1690s.
Thanks,
David

the only pubs named in the 1861 apart from the two i have already said are red lion, cricketers inn, black swan, carpenters arms,
could the name have been changed,
will have a look on the 1881 tomorrow morning for you if no one does so in the meantime.
also do the brewery not have any records that you could have a look at.
-

I am really surprised that it was not a pub in 1871.
Never mind. I will try to pursue the Brewery, though had no luck when I tried before.
Many thanks,
David

it might have been a pub in 1871 i have'nt looked but in 1861 as i said it was not mentioned on the census.
-
Hi David,
1871 has on the High Road or High Street, the Black Swan, Carpenters Arms, Cricketers Inn, Bull Inn, Rose & Crown, Jolly Dogs, Kings Head, The Swan, but no Plough :-\
wozzle has given you the 1861 apart from The Bull.
It must have changed its name ?

Hi Davey
Not sure if this is any use, but my great, great grandparents ran The Plough, West Drayton in 1841
-
Thanks Hazel. West Drayton is a different place though, but appreciate your comments.

-
Hello,
Many thanks for this link. The association has its own website but there is no information on the Plough at Stewkley. I have not contacted them directly though.
Kind regards,
David

Always worth making contact with a local group - you never know what information they may have. :-)

Charles Mead had the Plough in 1875

He's listed in Harrod's 1876 Directory as a beer retailer, one of several in Stewkley.
-
...and Charles Mead was at the Plough in the 1871 census
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/7619/images/BKMRG10_1414_1416-0603
Occupation "Plough Public House" (it looks more like Pubic House but that can't be right)
-
From the Buckinghamshire 1872 Beer house list.
The Licence was granted in 1845, for the Plough in Stewkley. Occupier/Licencee, in 1872 was a Charles Mead.
The owner of the Plough was E.M.M. Lucas of Rowsham.
