Fi,
I once wanted some information about a mayor and simply wrote to the Town Clerk. I get a very full and interesting reply. You could also try emailing local.studies@darlington.gov.uk

I'll give it a go.........

On a general note, I heard of a relative (by marriage) who was Lord Mayor of Bradford. I found a web site listing the former Lord Mayors and it even had a small bit of biographical information. However, this was the 1960s and Bradford is a decent sized city, so your mileage may vary.

Hi,
I've been trying to get a list of Mayors of Shoreditch. I've e-mailed Tower Hamlets three time, but have never had any sort of reply. I can't go and look myself, as I'm in Scotland!

Hello all.
Every town or city library, otherwise every town or city hall should hold lists of Mayors and there are often references to biographical resources concerning some of the men in question. There may even be photographs that have survived. I know that both Exeter & Dudley's main libraries have these lists. Its simply a question of whether or not you have the ability to get there ::)

Thanks Ryan. It's been suggested that I contact Hackney Council. I'll e-mail them. Can't get there myself as I'm in the wilds of Scotland.
