I'm at present sharing my computer with a friend who hasn't got one here.
I've made it so that when its switched on (Windows XP), my name comes up, and so does her's on the first 'page'.
I click my name and am asked for password ... as usual.
If I click her name, I get straight into her stuff, no password apparently needed.
Have I set something up wrong ? Of course, I wouldnt click her name to see her stuff, and she cant see mine, but I would be happier if she too had a password.
Remember, I'm no computer whizz kid, so advice in SIMPLE language please !

If you go to 'start' then 'control panel' then 'user accounts' your friend can create her own password to use.

So easy !

Hi Lydart
If you go to the Help and Support Centre , and go to Customizing Your Computer. Then click on Sharing Your Computer, it tells you all about it there.

The other thing you should do is give your sharer a LIMITED user account or they will have access to any of your data.
If you login as a member of the Administration group then you will be able to access your sharers data. You obviously do not them to have the same priviliges as you as they could either accidentally or intentionally delete your data and install programs on your computer.

Once your friend has logged in use the CTRL+ALT+DEL key combo to get access to the change password page where they can set a password and also change it.
As already mentioned - set it up as a limited account to keep your documents hidden.

Thank you all ... I've done all that and got it working, protected and useable !
I'll lock this now as my questions been answered ! :) :) :)
