Title: BREWERS of bath
Post by: dan1611 on Sunday 24 February 08 16:10 GMT (UK)
Hi
  Can anyone find me anything on a John Brewer. He is found in the 1841 Census with his wife Elizabeth. Born about 1796. It looks like Elizabeth was born in Worcester.

  I would imagine though they married in Bath.The marriage could have taken place before 1827 if the children present in 1841 are the eldest

Any help would be great.Iam also trying to connect John 1796 to ther Brewers in the Walcot bath area.

John Andrew Brewer (Walcot) & Elizabeth Barrett (otp)
11th April 1826 at Weston, Bath - Licence

That's fine actually. This John is my Great Great grandfather so this is still valuable information. So thanks for that

I'm not quite sure where to go now. The 1841 census states John 1796 was born in the county of Somerset. so I'll look up a birth at this time.I am visiting the Records Office soon. So if nothing else comes up I'll look there

If there's anything on a Birth that would be good too.

Hi
  Continuing on from the request. I have the birth of a John Brewer and Mary ? presumebly in Bath. Their first son also John was born on 21/03/1795 in Walcot Bath, but I was not able to find a marriage for John and Mary. I don' t know if John 1795 was their first child but I would imagine he was their first son. Can anyone else see any other likely children for John and Mary?

Many Thanks

Hi Thought I'd update where I am with this search. I have found a marriage for John Andrew Brewer and Mary Weeks in 1745, they had John Brewer in c 1760 and I would love to know if they had other children.This John went on to marry ?? and had a John Andrew Brewer in c 1796 he went onto marry Elizabeth Barret in 1826 and they had ,Elizabeth 1827, Jiohn Andrew 1828 Ellen 1833 and Harriett Martha 1833.

John Andrew then married Emily Burge in 1856 and had;
Emily 1857
Florence 1859
John 1861
Elizabeth 1863

He remarried in 1865 a Matilda Conduit and had;
Sidney 1868
Andrew 1870
Louisa 1871
Ethel 1874.

Anyone who can see any connections to their tree or can fill in other children for the previous marriages, I'd really appreciate iot. I have no idea for example where the first John Andrew Brewer came from not having been able to find a birth for him in the Records Office. Any help really appreciated.

Thanks DRH123, love the profile picture by the way!!

The request you have answered was in February 20008 and I didn't have much info, so some of what I said there is no longer valid. One of the reasons I have updated my search, so basically I have the marriage for John and Mary 1745, they had a John c 1750-60 this is a rough estimate given his own sons birth in 1795 eitherway so I would imagine there were other children.
Hope that clarifies that.

It would be great if I could find some siblings for my various Johns. At present it's a thin line going straight up to this marriage, so I'd really like to pad it out a bit, not many researches for the Bath Brewers it seems.

Thanks for the details of the marriage too.

He's my gg-grandfather, I don't look anything like him :)

Have you tried the Bath Forum Hundred group
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/bathforumhundred/

Specific to the Bath area so you may have a better chance of finding someone interested in the Brewers.
They also have transcripts of many of the Bath parish registers. But unfortunately not Walcot for the 1790s.

To add to this the Brewer name can be added to the names of Chard,Butcher, Barrett(Worcester) who married into the Brewer family at various times.
