Would someone be able to look up a parish record for the marriage of Henry Wildman and Margaret Yates? They were married November 20th 1882 in St Lukes Church Bilston Staffordshire. I have their marriage certificate but unfortunately it doesn't show Henry fathers name or occupation or Margaret's father's name or occupation. This is the first time I have received a certificate with that information missing.
Henry and Margaret were my great grand parents and I need the information to research my great great grandparents.
Hoping there is someone out there that has either of these people in their tree.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jean
Thank you for replying to my post. I will tell you what I know about my great grand parents Henry Wildman & Margaret Yates. Henry was born in Ashby in Leicestershire. According to his marriage certificate he was 23 in 1882 when he married so that makes his birth date 1859. I had a look and I found Henry on the 1861 census for England with father Jonathan born 1817 in Derbyshire, Hannah his wife born 1817 in Sedgely Staffordshire, with most of the children born Bilston so I think the parents are correct but Henry's birthdate is questionable. Maybe its a mistake.
Margaret Yates according to the 1871 census was born in Chipping Campden Gloucestershire but I also found one that said Bilston Staffordshire with Margaret and William Yates as her parents. I will have to delve a little deeper I think to find where she really was born.
Any information you find would be very much appreciated.
Again thank you.

This may be a long time after your original query, but I think you have misinterpreted the 1861 census record. The original record scan shows Jonathan, Hannah & family as Schedule No. 6. Schedule No. 7 shows Esther Wildman as a lodger with daughter Jane, and son Henry. It would appear therefore that Henry's mother was Esther Wildman. I have not researched Esther, but Jonathan & Hannah were my great great grandparents.

Hi Rover John
Thank you for replying to my post.
I had a look at the 1861 census both schedules have Henry's parents as Jonathan and Hannah. Esther the lodger could be his mother but why would Jonathan and Hannah appear as Henry's parents.
On the 1871 census Henry appears as Harry born Measham Derbyshire aged 12. Esther is the head of the family and Harry listed as grandson. Jane listed as daughter but not old enough to be Harry's mother.
I am totally confused.
Have you any ideas where else I could look for information?

Could well be that Esther was the mother of both Jane + Henry(possibly illig)
2 possibles for Esther in 1841 at Measham Derbysh. Just cannot find her 1851.
Death Dec.qtr 1872 Wolverhampton Esther Wildman age 48.

Hi, Lily
I don't know which reference source you consulted for the 1861 census, but in the 3 months since I started researching my family history one thing I have realised is that there are an awful lot of errors in transcriptions.
I have looked at the 1861 information on 'Ancestry.Co.uk' and just as you say the transcription lists Henry as being Jonathan & Hannah's son. However, if you consult the scanned image of the original census it becomes obvious that family groups are listed under one schedule number, and any other families or individuals (such as lodgers) living at that address under separate schedule numbers.
Thus J. & H. and their offspring are listed under schedule 6, Esther and her offspring are listed under schedule 7. Another example - Further along Cross Street, Bradley, the Slater family are listed under schedule 10 and their lodger George Gibson is listed under schedule 11
Given time I will expand my tree further (I have some potential names going back into the 18th century), but for the moment I'm fairly confident that I've got it back as far as Jonathan & Hannah.
Regards
John
