Thanks for your help. This is a great site, I was only told about it the other day. I am most greatful to you. I do have the 1861 census with the family on but not the 1851. I am seeking to find Daniels of Shadwell's wifes maiden name and also his parents. I have been led to believe that I was from a Scottish background, not a London one. This has been quite a shock to the family.

If you get either thier marriage cert or one of childrens birth certificates it will give her maiden name . ;)
There is a marriage on the FBMD of a Daniel Mackenzie March q. 1845 City of London, there is on the page an Ann Collins but as we not sure where it took place a safer bet would one of the childrens births.
There a two of three possible births for William but this looks like Charlotte
Charlotte Mackenzie Sept q 1849 Bermondsey, Surrey 4 - 41
Charles Mackenzie Sept q. 1856 Greenwich, Kent 1d - 477
Daniel Mackenzie March g. 1854 Bermndsey, Surrey 1d - 71

Thanks, Charlotte certainly looks like the one to go after.

I have just looked at the complete birth index's and I cannot see Charlotte on the page and volume number that the free gives so I would try for one of the others to be sure

I will check Charles and Daniel. I cant view the images right now, Ancestry is playing up ::)
Will try again later.

There is a duplicate thread running on the Middlesex board. Some information already found.

I know Jan. I put it there as the family moved. It has given me more responses, but thanks anyway. Ron
