Can any one find the marriage of Elizabeth Burgon c1856 to Stephen Tait c1856. Marriage was in Berwick. First child Elizabeth was born 1878, Berwick. Elizabeth died in 1894.
Also trying to find her parents and or any siblings.
He later married Elizabeth Bryson b 1861 Berwick, don`t think they had children. Looking for any info on her.
Regards, Nicola

1871 census shows 2 Elizabeth Burgons born 1856/58 Berwick.
According to 1891 census, Elizabeth Burgon was born West Hartlepool, Durham
but 1881 shows her born Berwick so you may need the marriage cert to make sure which are her parents.

If you want to leap across to other members of the Burgon family then I've got info on another family, possibly cousins of this lot, at the same time. Also fishermen, with a father Peter, living in Berwick.

I have been watching this topic with some interest.
I have been trying to help an acquaintance track his lost family.
He was born in 1942 and the only things he knows is that he was born in Brampton (Cumbria) while his mother was working as a domestic servant in Cramlington. Her name was Thomasina Burgon (or Burgen) and was apparently unmarried, but had several children.
We have drawn several blanks and the only Thomasina I can find is one that was born in Berwick 1902....but I'm not certain if this was her, because as far as I can ascertain, this one got married to a Peter Dick in Scotland and they died in Scotland in the 80s within a few years of each other.
So if any of your Burgons fit the bill, we would welcome hearing from you.
Regards Al.

Hi Arquebus,
Can't see any link here with my lot...
Also, I'm not sure why someone working as a domestic in Cramlington during the war would have a child in Brampton. It doesn't make a lot of sense
On a quick check, the only Thomasina I can find (thru FreeBMD & Scotland's people) is the same one born in Berwick 1902 and that married Peter Dick in Scotland.
Note Burg*n is an Irish name too.

I've recently been looking up my wifes family who came from Berwick and discovered a link with the BURGON family and my wifes (RICHARDSON).

Jim, that's very interesting!
Joanna Ann Richardson is my GGG Aunt (I'm related through her older sister Margaret) and we know quite a bit about this branch of the Burgon family since the 1840s. I've sent you a separate message
