Thomas Compton/Cumpton........born about 1841 Stoke Prior or Leominster.
Not sure how many wives he had, but one of them was Mary Ann...born in Leominster.
May have a brother called James and parents may be William and Lucy
Cheers

Do you have the 1881/1891/1901 census ref for us?
when would Mary Ann have been his wife?

Hi Kozmos
Just as a guide .. could this have been the birth of Thomas ..
Birth, Sep qtr, 1838
Thomas Compton
Leominster, Vol 26, page 170
According to the 1901 census it appears that this may possibly be the correct date of birth ..
Kind regards,
Pels
-
Sorry Pauline ..
I'm assuming in 1891 it was RG12/2073, folio 26, page 4 .. and the 1901 .. RG13/2495, folio 5, page 2.
Pels :)

I think that I've got him in 1871, but he's calling himself William!
Stoke Vil Busl (?) Cols ?
William Cumpton Head 30 Agr. Lab Waggoner Stoke Prior
Mary Ann " Wife 24 Leominster
Mary Ann " Daur 2 Leominster
Elizabeth " Daur 5 mo Stoke Prior

The names and dates of the girls fit in with Thomas Compton in 1891 anyway.
I saw in 1881 that the family was listed as CRUMPTON. You have that one don't you? If not, let me know and I'll list it.
In 1861 there's a possible THOMAS CRUMPTON age 21 from Stoke Prior, listed as a cowman for William Lumbert in Humber, Herefordshire
RG9 Piece 1832 Folio 40 page 13
Could these be the correct listings?
Hope it helps anyway

I think that I've found him in 1851 as well. Still no help with his family though :-\
The writing is very unclear but it looks like Thomas CROMPTON, aged 11 listed as out door servant from Stoke Prior for Thomas Llord againt in Humber.

Where did you get the William and Lucy names from as Thomas' parents? And the brother James?
Have you got Thomas and Mary Ann's marriage certificate?
possibly 3rd Quarter 1867 Leominster Vol 6a page 925

Got the names from LDS site.........there were very few Comptons born in Leominster......so I crossed my fingers toes and eyes that they may be related.
Long shot, I know..........and way off beam probably.
I shall look into getting a marriage certificate from England and "climbing the Tree" the proper way.
Many Thanx

Thomas Compton married Mary Ann Taylor in 1867 - their fathers names will be on the marriage certificate from Leominster Register Office.

PS They may also hold his birth certificate ! :)
